Really? C'mon.
Scheduled for release in September of 2012 comes Todd Farmers vision through Dimension films.
Project details:
Writer Todd Farmer had this to say about this script: "We took Rob Zombie's story and continued it, but we did it in a way that sort of pulled it back to the John Carpenter tone and intention, and we didn't cheat. We didn't break any of the rules. We used the rules Zombie had established, and it felt good because it felt like a complete story, and we're still hopeful that one day it’ll happen." Originally had an October 2010 theatrical release planned. Production was originally said to begin sometime in November '09, however the Weinstein's decided that the project was being too rushed to accomidate director Patrick Lussier's schedule, so they opted to put everything on hold until he's free to work on this sequel.
This marks the return of director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer, who both worked on the My Bloody Valentine 3D remake together.
This will be in 3D.
It's said that a new genre director will be chosen, who will once again offer a "different take" on the series
Writer/director Rob Zombie will not be returning.
The third film in the "re-imagining" on the Halloween series.
I guess coming up with new plots and story lines is becoming a thing of the past. What a novel idea, write something new. I'm about to OD on remakes and re-imaginings.

I can't even imagine where this could be headed. All I can say is, it can't possibly be worse than the last one. (Waiting for Murphy's Law to bite me in the butt now)

I hear this is up in the air as it will eventually happen but they have other movies to finish first and as far as 3d that is still an undecided part in the remake

3D never adds anything to a horror film. Halloween has no business being in 3D. With any luck this will be delayed so long that they decide to cancel it.
