I've just finished reading this novel and I can't even begin to describe how amazing it is. I didn't want to read it when it first came out because it was so hyped, and hyped things (majority of the time) tend to suck ass balls. So I held off and read it when I was ready to. And, a month ago I was ready. I have a long commute to work, so I read this to and from work (with some lunch break reads) I had to pace myself because I was really enjoying it and wanted it to last. I could have easily read this whole novel in 2 days if I didn't have a life. That's how good this story was. 700 pages was too short. Here is a summary I found online: "Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country. Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.” Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son." I read a lot and lately the horror market is so polluted with generic horror titles that it's impossible to find a novel that is different, imaginative, unique and terrifying. Hill manages to write a book unlike any other. Reading NOS4A2 I felt the same creepiness/uneasy feeling(s) that I got when I first started reading King's stuff. I've babbled enough, if you have not checked this one out, please do ! I feel like a moron for waiting so long to read it.

I like Hill's comics, so I should give his books a try one day.

I've known about the book since it came out, seen the title a bunch of times and never even got it. My wife was looking at this post and said "What a cool vanity plate...Nosferatu." Once she said that, bam, there it was. Never even thought of that before.

It took me 10 minutes to figure that out. Only reading the description of the book did I really get it.

I want to get that as my license plate, lol.
I'll definitely get this book, I love Joe Hill. Right now I am reading his book "Horns."

Bought this today at Barnes and Noble. Gonna give it a read after I finish The Virgin Suicides.

Hill also made a graphic novel based on the character Charlie Manx called The Wraith: Welcome to Christmasland. Haven't bought it yet, but when I get some extra cash, this will be my next purchase.

So that's what that comic's about? Might give it a read now. Was avoiding it because of the title.

Hell of a read. Although I've enjoyed each of Hill's books to date, this was the first one to really *blow me away*. I dug it so much, in fact, I read it twice. Charlie Manx is one of literature's all-time greatest villains.

With Joe Hill's books, do they have satisfying endings? Because I read a few of his comics and thought the endings fell a bit flat. Locke and Key should have been amazing with that buildup, but it really just didn't feel like it the ending lived up to the story. Like Heroes season 1.
