Love this movie and lately I've been really wanting to see it again. And, it's on IFC right now! My avatar and myself are happy.

It's definitely a great film. People give it ish for too much talking but that's what I love about it. It's all BS until BAM! it hits you in the face with pure terror and destruction. It's Tarantino to a f*cking T and people are schmucks for not wanting more of that.

I loved it the first time I saw it. No clue what those people were complaining about. Hell, if anything, having that much talking made it EXACTLY like a grindhouse style film. I mean really, how many of them were honestly even that good?

We don't watch Grindhouse films for them being good, really. It was all about the cheap acting, cheap thrills, and gratuitous nudity. Tarantino just elevated it for his film. And look, it's a trend now.

That's why cult films are cult films many times, right?

Exactly. Sometimes having no budget is a blessing. You work so hard to make people not notice what's either cheap or missing altogether. Look at El Mariachi. A movie with a nothing budget that still kicks ass.

death proof's an excellent movie on its own, but first time i saw it was as a double-feature with planet terror, which is a hard movie to beat watched it again w/ the boyfriend & got more into it, loved the ending by the way! watched a documentary on monster-making / special effects & apparently the leg-flying-off thing near the beginning was a fluke! worked, obviously, and that was an excellent part of the film!

The first half of Death Proof is my favorite, especially the car wreck and the leg flying off scene. You remember the name of that documentary? I'd love to see it.

speaking of documentaries on horror / film-making, you might like this one: 'birth of the living dead', a documentary about the filming of NotLD, also on netflix.
