Timmy, the local paperboy (Mathew Lawrence) is going about on his normal route when one of the people he delivers for brings him inside and locks him in a cage. This woman, named Betty (Deborah Harry) turns out to be a witch, and is going to cook him for dinner! As he waits to be eaten and she prepares the ingredients, she decides to give Timmy a book to read so he won't distract her. He decides to read her a few of the stories in it in the meantime to try and delay his demise.
Lot 249
Bellingham (Steve Buscemi) is a graduate student who appears to be a shoe in for a scholarship, so 2 other jealous students decide to frame him for stealing school property, thus allowing the contest to boil down to only the 2 of them. As payback, he decides to use an incantation to bring a mummy to life to take revenge on them.
Cat From Hell
A wealthy old man named Drogan (William Hickey) hires a hitman (David Johansen) and offers him $100,000 to kill a black cat. Drogan explains that the cat has killed 3 other people in his house, and that since his company killed many cats using them for drug research, that this particular black cat is here to exact revenge on him. The hitman doesn't buy the story, but decides for $100, why not? It turns out to be a much more difficult job than he expects however...
Lover's Vow
A struggling artist (James Remar) comes home drinking one night, and in the alley sees a murder committed by a gargoyle. The beast says that it will spare his life is he swears never to mention the incident to anyone, to which he agrees. He later runs into a woman in the same alley (Rae Dawn Chong), and the 2 eventually fall in love and get married. His art career suddenly huge, and they even have 2 wonderful children together. He still is haunted by the incident, which shows in his work. He winds up breaking his promise out of a moment of weakness, and now things are about to go horribly wrong for him...
Out of the many anthology movies I've seen, I have to say that this is my absolute favorite! I love the idea of a child reading creepy stories to an evil witch ready to cook and eat him, it feels like a very gruesome fairytale! The movie has so many great actors in it, the effects are top notch, and every story is very well done. There have been many rumors saying that this was supposed to have been Creepshow 3, and I can easily see why. Everything about it has the same kind of tone, and even the same big name involvement from horror legends!
I never really hear people talk about this movie, and that leads me to believe that this is a very underrated and under appreciated film. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it!

Yuss!! Great movie! Great stories and a really good cast. Steve Buscemi, Christian Slater, Jullianne Moore, that guy in the Gargoyle story, Rae Dawn Chong, David Johansen and Matthew Lawrence at the height of his career. Plus, I really liked the order of the stories, I though the best was definitely saved for last.
Great watch. I have it on my PC and watch it on Plex all the time. Definitely underrated and anyone that's a horror fan should check it out.

I watched it last night with a friend and she loved it. It was her first time seeing it too.
