Robert (Bernd Daktari Lorenz) is a regular guy who works for a place called Joe's Cleaning Agency. He and his coworkers are called in to clean up grisly accident and crime scenes, which he does with much pride. However, there is a secret that others don't know about Robert. When he can, he takes parts of the body parts home for his collection. Robert has been fascinated by death ever since he was a child, especially after watching his father kill his pet rabbit. He even has a girlfriend who is into this morbid hobby as well. One day however, Robert decides to go all out. Instead of just taking body parts, he intends to bring home the entire corpse!
This daring act causes his girlfriend Betty (Beatrice Manoski) to absolutely lose her mind in happiness! The 2 fasten a makeshift penis onto the corpse, and decide to have sex with it. Finally, true bliss for these 2 necrophiles! The joy does not last forever though, as Robert's strange behavior and poor attendance are starting to get noticed at his job. Not only that, but the body he has stolen obviously can't last forever. What will he do when his and Betty's plaything becomes too deteriorated to use and keep?
Soon after Robert is fired, and he has to come home and tell Betty. She berates him for being such a loser, and so he decides to leave for a while for her to cool down. When he comes back however, he finds that not only has she left, but she's taken the corpse with her too! Now he is all alone, depressed, and suicidal. Things can't get much worse, can they? As days go on, Robert begins to lose his grip on reality more and more, which will only lead to a tragic end...
So, this film is certainly different than I expected. I bought it and the sequel after reading about them in my Killing For Culture book, and just in time too! Not long after I purchased them from the video store, I found out they were out of print and going for astronomical prices! However, they have been re-released on a limited edition blu-ray, so if you want them and they are still available, jump on it!
Sorry, got off track there. Anyway, I thought this was simply going to be some kind of necrophilia fetish softcore porn thing that tried too hard to be daring and gross, but I was wrong. Even though it's not the most well shot film, has rather poor acting and the effects aren't exactly great, it does have a charm to it. It's more than just about sex with a corpse, it's a man who can't properly function with people, and his downward spiral of depression leading to suicide attempts. It's actually much more fascinating than I expected.
This film also boasts a surprisingly beautiful soundtrack as well, and there are some good shots in here to go along with the interesting idea. Needless to say, this film caused quite a bit of controversy upon release, and to this day is still banned in certain areas. Also cool to note, the band Nekromantix got their name from this movie! I myself like the film, but everyone else I have shown it to thought it was dreadfully boring, so if you are curious, I would say check it out. It might not be to your taste, but I think it's something to at least say you saw once.

Paper. Mache. Penis.
I was not a fan of this film. Found it dull. And the ending was actually hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

Everybody I showed this movie to thought it was boring. I can easily see why it isn't to many people's tastes. And if you think this is dull, you should (definitely not) see the sequel Ugh.
