I've been watching horrors that were like, R18 since I was about five years old. I love horror movies and the adrenaline you get from being scared. Unfortunately as time went on, I became desensitised to horror movies, and haven't had anything properly scare me in years. If you guys have any suggestions on things for me to watch, that would be so awesome. My preferences are generally ghosts, and demons. Vampires, Zombies, Aliens etc were never scary (that's slightly hypocritical and I'll explain why soon). We live in the generation that created Twilight, so of course no one could be scared of vampires. Zombie movies, make me become a zombie, they are so boring, I'm not a big fan of action, and there's generally way too much drama. My top three favourite horror movies at the moment are Insidious. I had just been learning about lucid dreaming when I first watched it, so it was definitely creepy, however, I feel like the second movie ruined the effect of the first one. Dark skies, which is actually an alien movie, but when I watched the trailer, I somehow missed that, still I thought it was very interesting, and I like the details to the story. Last on the list, but definitely not the least scary, is shadow people. Again, it was something that I had just been talking to my friends about, before I watched the movie. It was very well done in my opinion, lots of technical details, I highly recommend you watch it. My base for liking these movies, is that they make it seem real. The characters are put in a situation they can't control, and what's even better, is that it could happen to you. So please feel free to share with me, some horrors that you might think I will like, or just share some of your favourites with me. Thanks a lot if you stuck around and read all of that!

Welcome!
There's an old ghost movie you might like, The Changeling. It isn't flashy, and has no gore. What it has is atmosphere and creepiness. It should still be on Youtube.

First off, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you here. I know what you mean about being desensitized to to horror movies, I've been watching them a long time and it's tough to find something that actually, truly scares me. I don't mean jump scares, I mean being truly frightened. That said, I do still enjoy most of the horror I watch. I love The Walking Dead, and I love it more as it goes on. Not because of the zombies, but the people. They would be and are the true threat in that situation. One movie that scared me and disturbed me was The Strangers because that type of thing could actually happen. No monsters, just people mindlessly killing other people and it's horrifying to me. I'm sure there are tons of others like it... The Hills Have Eyes, I Spit on Your Grave, The Purge, etc. But The Strangers was just brutal to me. Anyway, tons of them posted here to read about and see. So, enjoy the horror and have fun taking it all in.

Thanks for the suggestions and the welcome. People torturing each other kind of makes me upset, in horrors like Eden Lake and the Saw franchise (however, I might be okay with saw now, I saw the third one when I was around nine years old, so I was kind of put off). But I'll definitely give the strangers a go.I love a horror that is very atmospheric, and keeps the suspense/creepy factor throughout the movie, so I'll definitely have to watch The Changeling at some point too, and I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for more horror suggestions around the site that I think I might like.

First off, what an intro! Welcome, welcome, hope you enjoy your stay here and keep coming back. You don't want my suggestions for horror films, because the simplest thing scares me. Haha. I'm a total scaredy-cat, and I'm not afraid to admit it. (hah, I just realized that was kind of a pun... or something.) But hey, you should be able to find things that you like around here, the people here are very knowledgeable and can give excellent recommendations!
