There were a lot of Dracula spin offs and redos, but of them all the 1992 version followed the story closest IMO. So, of the two, which would you pick?
I'll take the classic, 1931 version. I have a soft spot for that movie and for Lugosi. Plus, it was probably really scary at the time.

I actually enjoyed the 1992 version, but yeah Lee. Hard to beat the original.

Yeah. I have a tough time sitting through the original where the monster looked like a big carrot. I'll take Carpenters version any day. Pumped to see how the new one plays out in October.

Well, everyone can't always like the same things, be a boring place if we did. I prefer The Wolfman to Dracula, but I like Dracula too.

I think Dracula was Lugosi's greatest role. I never thought he got the respect in Hollywood that he deserved. Just some of his later roles were bad...I felt sorry for him. Love Plan Nine From Outer Space, just because it was so bad, but Lugosi deserved better roles than that. But, he died during the filming of that, so who knows what would have come along.

I just take em as they are Tony and dig em. There may be a deeper meaning in Dracula that I don't get either, but as far as Frankenstein, the monster was really the victim, IMO. He didn't ask for any of what he got, and had no choice in a lot of it. When he did have a choice, he had the tainted brain they made him with, so they were usually bad.
But, I always feel sorry for the monster every time I watch it.

They're almost two different movies to me. It's very hard to compare the two. Especially considering the times they were made and the money put into each of them.
Coppola's version has a superb cast. Maybe not Keanu Reeves, but that's easy to forgive.
I'm stumped. I really am. I'll have to watch these back-to-back one day in the near future.
