I love horror videogames.
But I'm a big chicken. So I normally watch Let's Plays on Youtube. Haha.
Silent Hill and Resident Evil are awesome, though the newer Resident Evil games are a bit rubbish. I've played the heck out of Resident Evil 4, though, on multiple consoles. (Gamecube, Wii, PC.) I played RE 5 and enjoyed it, but for different reasons. They stopped being horror at this point. I tried Resident Evil 6, but . . . ugh. I don't know. I get frustrated when you have to play 2 player because the AI sucks so badly. But I have read all the Resident Evil books, so that's cool and stuff.
As far as Silent Hill goes, I adore the storyline of Homecoming, but I find these games lacking sometimes. I always want more. Maybe they should write books about the Silent Hill series, too. Haha.
Steam has brought us the ability to access horror games so easily. Amnesia: the Dark Descent, and its sequel A Machine for Pigs were very interesting. Outlast is terrifying. There were a couple other really good ones I saw - even better than the ones mentioned here - but I'm having trouble getting into my steam account, so I'll have to post when I figure out their titles.

Love horror video games and play them all the time. I still play the old Doom and Blood games on PC, but do play newer ones as well. Layers of Fear is a fascinating game. The Amnesia games were both awesome. Playing through Condemned:Criminal Origins again right now, plus some other non horror games that my friend Tony Hates Everything hooked me up with on Steam. And, yeah, Steam is awesome. A great play for free game there is Spooky's Mansion, just a fun game. It's free so give it a shot!

Never was good at horror games. I suck at conserving items and solving puzzles. I did however love the tongue in cheek horror homages in the game Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I'd play that for hours with my sister on the SNES.

That is the best avatar i have seen in a long time super disappointed that i did think of using it. That game was so awesome my brother was much better at it then me so i would usually just hand the control over and let him go at it.

Yeah, I hear the VR version is scary as hell. I'd be too chicken to do it myself.

One of my favorite horror games that I play over and over is Day of the Zombie. From around 2008 and looks like it's probably heavily based on Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green. Played that one too and liked it, but it had levels that required quick sniping to continue and I'd get po'ed after trying five or six times and still not getting through it.
Day of the Zombie is just straight forward zombie killing and I love it!! You should too!

I love Resident Evil 2 and Fatal Frame.
I played the VR version of the lastest Resident Evil, 7 or whatever, the latest at the time, and my friend was expecting me to be really scared but I was too focused on scavenging and searching for as many clues as possible rather trying my damnedest to get out of the house. It was only the demo at the time. Fun though.
Silent Hill or Silent Hill 2, whichever one I used to have, is creepy.
I always loved playing House of the Dead and CarnEvil at the arcade.
I don't really play that much any more. Pinball is my favorite though. Anytime I see a Twilight Zone one or an Elvira or any horror related one I tend to jump at the chance to play it.
This one PlayStation game was scary. Heart of Darkness. You'd play a kid fighting these shadow demons in order to get your dog back. Really terrifying. Especially since they'd show those demons ripping up you, as the kid, if you got caught, Oddworld style.
American McGee's Alice is pretty scary too.
I liked Dino Crisis also.

Played most of those, currently playing through Dino Crisis right now on the PSX emulator. Also playing Call of Chutulu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
I liked American McGee's Alice too, some levels were extremely hard though. I liked the levels with the living chess pieces the best. Got that in a 3 pack 10 years ago or so with Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi and some other game I don't know what happened to.
The remake of Resident Evil 2 is pretty good if you haven't played it, and a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is coming later this year.
