From the novel by Stephen King, this movie really showed the dark side of having a number one fan, as writer of the Misery series, Paul Sheldon finds out. Starring James Caan and Kathy Bates in an Oscar award winning performance, this movie is a great watch, and makes you wonder if maybe things like this happen more often than we hear about.

I've seen people go pretty crazy over local celebrities, so I don't doubt that things like this happen all the time. This shows that fame can be a bad thing sometimes.

Man, she does bad stuff to him. Worse in the book. They should have kept it true to the book. Movie is still good, but would have been bad ass if kept true to the novel.

Well, gotta account for time and budget. Maybe they felt some of the stuff was too over the top or would keep a certain amount of the audience it wanted away.

I watched this for the first time my junior year of high school during English class. Easiest class I've ever had. All we did was watch movies, I've seen Without a Paddle and Napoleon Dynamite more times than I can count.
Anyway, this movie was all kinds of awesome. I've never read the book because well it's a book and I'm not big on reading. So I can't compare the two but I really enjoyed the movie. I too think things like this happen more than we hear about.

the hammer to the feet still makes me wince.... crunch Agreed. Love how she looks at him right before swinging the hammer and says "God I love you", then lets it fly. She was a out there.

It sure is. Humor and horror makes a great duo.
It'd be pretty neat to see another movie of this caliber, but I don't think we will for quite some time. You know you have an amazing cast when all you need is 2 people.

Yeah, they carried that movie for sure...but they needed to, to follow the novel. So whoever cast them also deserves an award. Kathy Bates made an awesome Annie Wilkes.

Very few actors could have pulled that off. It's like in Buried, where it's just Ryan Reynolds stuck in a box for an hour and a half.
