A new Ghostbusters is coming in 2020 and it will be a sequel to Ghostbusters 2 from 1989. Not a lot of info yet, but it's happening. And, there's even been leaked pics of Bill Murray on the set in character. Some are saying he'll just be doing a cameo, but that hasn't been confirmed. More info on the movie here.

He said he wanted to be a ghost of he was to return.
I'm okay with that.

Ok, some new news, an early poster and the official trailer for the now named Ghostbusters: Afterlife. "Synopsis:When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind." "The original film’s cast does not appear in the trailer, but it has been confirmed that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will be reprising their roles. The trailer instead focuses on the new characters, including Paul Rudd as a teacher with knowledge of the events of 1984, who will come together (with a little help from a handful of ghost-busting legends, we can assume) to save the world from another paranormal invasion."

A little more on this one, the introduction of a new character, a ghost named Muncher. The new character appeared on an episode of Master Chef Junior from Spain.
"When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind."
The cast includes Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are all slated to return in their original roles. Not much info, but more should be coming soon as the movie is supposed to release June 11th of this year.

Just saw the trailer for this one last weekend, the way they began it, I didn't even realize it was related to Ghostbusters though. I wanna see it for nostalgic reasons, since I grew up watching them with my mom's best friend's kids. (although I will say, I was in no way interested in the all-girls version that came out most recently) It looked good from the trailer, I will probably drag the hubby to see it.

Saw this finally. It felt like a proper sequel. The characters were really likable and linked to the first film nicely. It told us just enough to understand why the GB broke up without making it a huge thing.
And I'm sure the ending was cathartic for this who knew Harold Ramis.
I'll be adding this to the trilogy.
I haven't seen 2016 because I haven't heard anything redeeming about it and I think they missed the ball making it GB3. It could have easily been linked while still keeping it it's own entity. My story would have been GB franchised after defeating Vigo the Carpathian and the women now took over the NYC franchise after the rest retired. They aren't the best, more like a less competant Scooby Gang until finally coming together to win the day. Hell, could even have the original group and some others (Ghostbusters Extreme anayone?) to help but fail until the women finally work together to, like I said, win the day. Not many changes needed to be made to make that work as a sequel, but I'm glad we got Afterlife in the end.
