New Question - July 22nd:
Although they may be considered tame by today's standards, what scenes from horror movies you watched as a kid scared you silly?

From my childhood days...
House on Haunted Hill had so many scenes that stayed with me for years. The creepy blind floating caretaker who appeared out of nowhere in the dark basement, the blood dripping from the ceiling on that woman's hand and the wonderfully creepy Elisha Cook telling her she's been marked by the dead residents of the house. The hangman's rope slithering like a snake through the window, the severed head, the skeleton climbing out of the acid vat...
The ball slowly coming down the stairs and that creepy wheelchair from The Changeling.
The hearse and driver from Burnt Offerings.
Mama in that chair in the basement, Psycho.
Dead man walking, grrr arg...Frankenstein.
These are a few of my favorite things. LOL

New Question - July 22nd: Although they may be considered tame by today's standards, what scenes from horror movies you watched as a kid scared you silly?
Oh man, there were a bunch for me.
The burnt guy with the white eyes from The Night Walker that I mentioned before.
The cheesy screen flashing when something horrible was about to happen so the viewer would know in Chamber of Horrors.
The first Nightmare on Elm Street where Freddy is running and his arms are really long and the glove is scraping the wall.
The very end of Trilogy of Terror, after you think Karen Black has won. Then she calls her mother and tells her to come over. Then she just rips the lock off of her door and squats on the floor and starts stabbing the knife into it and as the camera slowly closes in she smiles and you realize that the Zuni spirit is in her now. That's the part that sent me screaming as a kid. I still love it!
Man, so many. I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of now. Great question of the week occupant!

1. My favorite horror film director: John Carpenter
2. Goriest horror movie I ever saw: Dead Alive probably
3. My favorite horror movie series: Hmm... Hard to say. For a while there I was saying A Nightmare on Elm Street, but I only really like 1, 3, 4, and New Nightmare. Although 2 does have the meanest Krueger in it. I do love Romero's original Dead trilogy. As well as the first three Evil Dead movies. Now that I'm thinking about it though, the classic Universal Frankenstein movies with Karloff and company. That's my choice.
4. Horror movie I couldn't wait to see that was the biggest let down: Honestly, Tusk. That's what comes to mind right now.
5: Horror movie that far exceeded my expectations: The Hatchet movies. Just real, good fun.
6. Favorite actor in horror movies: Male actor? Peter Cushing or Boris Karloff. Female actor? Adrienne Barbeau or Danielle Harris.
7. My favorite pre-1970's horror movie: Bride of Frankenstein or Godzilla
8. My favorite foreign horror film: House/Hausu ('77)
9. Scariest haunted location in a horror film: I was going to say the family home in Poltergeist, but The Gate literally opens up to Hell in the backyard. Just saying.
10. Best remake of an old horror movie: John Carpenter's The Thing

Type-wise, of the ones mentioned, I'd say either aliens or just sci-fi in general.
I do like movies from all these types though.
With that said, I'll list my favorite movie from each sub-genre.
Vampires From Dusk till Dawn
Witches / Warlocks (/ Curse) Drag Me to Hell
Haunted Places / Ghost encounters House/Hausu ('77)
Werewolves An American Werewolf in London
Zombies (/ Re-Animation) When it comes to zombies as we know them, Night of the Living Dead ('68). If you think about it though, Frankenstein's Monster is a zombie too. So, when thinking in those terms, Bride of Frankenstein.
Homicidal Slashers Scream
Demons / Demonic Possession The Exorcist ('73)
Giant Bugs / Arachnids If the Graboids from the Tremors series fit here then Tremors ('90). If not, The Fly ('86) or Them! ('54).
Aliens John Carpenter's The Thing
Other - Kaiju Godzilla/Gojira ('54)
