My mind's a mess right now. My heart is overfilled with grief. What is going on in the world right now, especially in Amercia, is overly grievous. Absolutely outrageous.
I don't care who it pisses off in here. Black lives matter.
It's sad that's it's come to this. Again!
Police don't need to exacerbate the situation. Just leave people be. Leaders need to actually listen and take means to rectify these injustices. All over.
Too many deaths on top of COVID deaths.
Too much bloodshed on top of years and years of bloodshed.
I'm . . . I'm at a loss.
One part of me wants absolute peace. The other wants to tear it all down. Start fresh. Asteroid hitting the Earth fresh.
Again. I don't care who this pisses off on here. Something needed to be said. By at least one of us on here. This is too big to ignore. To grievous to walk away from.
2020: Scariest horror movie of all time.

I'm a firm believer that every life matters and I don't want to see anyone get hurt, or killed. What happened to George Floyd was wrong, and unfortunately he's only one example of what happens when the power of being a law enforcement officer is put in the wrong hands.
I do think the majority of people in law enforcement are good people and want to do what is right and do things the right way and I have the utmost respect for most of them, it's a very tough job. Unfortunately, bad ones do slip through the cracks at times and it's even more unfortunate that so many times it ends in violence or death.
I understand the want for justice for Floyd, for his family and for so many others. I want to see the "officer" responsible pay for what he did as well, and I believe that he will.
Destroying innocent peoples property and businesses and livelihoods is not the way to go about getting justice. Looting, destruction of businesses and property hurts everyone. I believe that the vast majority of this nation is saddened and sickened about what happened to Floyd and want justice for him. I also think the protesting could have been done peacefully and probably would have gotten more done, results wise, if it had.
It's a shame that a cry out against violence always seems to end in more of it.

As a lifelong Chicagoan, I love being one. But when I first saw those images on the day they rioted Chicago, I cried myself to sleep after I woke up from a bad dream I had overnight. Chicago is now picking up the pieces and recovering from the recent rioting that affected the West and South sides of Chicago and I felt the need to make a $20 donation to help the minority-owned businesses were affected by the looting and burning since Saturday night. I did this gesture, because I'm deeply grateful that Chicago is my home and I won't trade it for anything else.

Police don't need to exacerbate the situation. Just leave people be.
This I don't agree with. Just leaving people be would only result in MORE rioting & looting and hurting of innocent law enforcement officials and businesses that can't afford the cleanup in the first place, thanks to the shutdown. I hate how these protesters are acting like EVERY law enforcement officer is now corrupt and is the same as the asshole who killed Floyd. They do not deserve that type of treatment, for only trying to keep everyone safe. I take offense to that personally because my cousin is married to a police officer and he's just about the NICEST person ever. And he's having to go out and risk his life because of these ignorant people who want to take advantage of the situation by looting and damaging businesses that had NOTHING to do with the situation. That's what pisses me off. If you want to protest, fine, see if it helps, but do it without violence and without damaging innocent bystanders/property.

Well said, April! I said a prayer for your cousin's husband. I'm praying for all law enforcement right now. Yes, there are bad cops, but I believe the majority of them are good.
I think it is shameful that people are using George Floyd's death to commit crimes, such as looting and burning down businesses. Some of those businesses will never come back to those areas. Think of all the jobs that are now in literal ashes. Those communities will suffer from the aftermath for years to come.

Well . . . There it is.
I'm . . . I'm done here.
Black people tried to be peaceful and got flak for it. So, not sure what anyone wants. Other than not to feel uncomfortable.
By the way, I don't know a friend of a friend who has a husband or wife in law enforcement. I have a parent. So, there you go.

MacReadyOrNot Sounds like YOU are the one who doesn't want to feel "uncomfortable", since you're leaving the forum just because people had an opinion that you didn't like. No one was rude to you. If you can't handle opposing opinions, then maybe you shouldn't start a conversation. This is a volatile subject and there is bound to be many other thoughts, feelings and opinions about it. You are very close minded, but I wish you the best!

Ya know MacReadyOrNot , LDG is right. Crazy stuff going on and it's a pretty hot issue and if you're going to post your opinion on it, you have to be willing to expect replies from folks with different viewpoints. This is why I tend to try to avoid this type of issue on the forum, rather concentrate on horror. Also, I was curious about why you hadn't been here, so I went by your forum and I have to say, I really didn't appreciate you running this place and it's members down. Everyone here has been nothing but nice to you and accepted you immediately when you joined, as we do everyone. To get mad and leave because people had a different opinion on a topic you started just seems a bit childish, but, whatever. Anyway, as livingdeadgirl said, I wish you the best and you're always welcome here if you want to talk horror again.

I just want to complain that masks are HOT. I follow the rules and wear them in stores but I can't stand how hot it makes me feel.

I agree also. It starts to make me gag and have the urge to throw up, if I have to wear it long enough. Not a comfortable feeling at all... We also can't bring in our own bags at grocery stores out here... I didn't realize that Costco had this rule and I brought the big insulated one we usually use there. Funny-ish story from earlier today, the woman stopped me and told me that no bags were allowed, and my 'darling husband' said afterwards that he almost turned around and yelled at her "Hey, that's my wife you're talking about!" haha. He got a playful smack on the arm for that.

✶April✶ my husband has made similar jokes. One time at 7-11 the cashier asked him if he wanted a bag, and he pointed to me and said "I already have one." Hardee har har.
One more mask complaint....they hurt the backs of my ears! I'm going to have to look for some that tie behind my head instead of the ones that loop around my ears.

lol livingdeadgirl, sounds like the two of them would get along great. Mine makes that joke also. Haha. He's just lucky that I have a sense of humor and I know it's all in good fun. He's also got 2 brothers who like to tease that way as well, so after the past 11 years of it, I'm just used to it now. Haha. Totally can relate to that complaint also. I had to wear the mask for at least 6 hours a day for 4 days when I got the assignment I'm currently working on, and had to report into the office for training before they sent us to work from home. It was AWFUL. By the 3rd day, it had started hurting my ears also, like I'd been wearing headphones all day, or constantly talking on the phone. Ugh.

So, I have a Jostens US Air Force ring that I got at the end of basic training in 1991. It's a size 10 and was a little tight when I got it, but an 11 was too loose and I was afraid I'd lose it. Now, it's 29 years later and on top of getting older, well, I've gotten fatter. Including my fingers apparently. I can get the ring on if I really try, but getting it back off is a b!tch and tears my finger up. Jostens offers a lifetime warranty on their military jewelry so I finally decided to send the ring in and have it resized to an 11 so I could wear it comfortably. I'm proud of my time in the military and proud of the ring, I'd like to wear it. I paid $10.95 to cover the return shipping to me and had the ring insured as well as paying to ship it to Jostens. They received the ring July 22nd according to the tracking number. I got no notifications of any type from them that they had received it or were actually doing work on it. Finally, after 3 emails to them, I got a reply that they had the ring and were working on it. It was scheduled to ship back to me on September 5th. Ok, so it's early August at this point and I'm one of the most impatient people ever. I looked at the calendar every day and finally it was September. It would be here soon. It arrived today, and it's beautiful. They completely refurbished the ring, no scratches on the stone, polished, just beautiful. Except, they forgot to re-size it. Same size it was when I sent it in. So, it looks fantastic, but I can't wear it. Now, I get to pay to send it back, insure it again, and wait another month of so to get it back. In the grand scheme of things, is this that big a deal? No. Doesn't change the fact that it makes me mad that a company like that can't do what was requested under warranty. Especially a place like Jostens, it's what they do. Anyway, hopefully it will fit sometime in October.
