Years ago I dated a man from China who owned a Kung Fu studio in NYC's China Town. He was no Shaolin Monk, but he was very disciplined from his years of training. He learned the tiger style of fighting. His reflexes were so fast no one could ever sneak up on him, you couldn't even catch him off guard when he slept.
Here is a video of other martial arts fighters vs a Shaolin Monk - no contest!

Awesome stuff. I love watching them, how composed and fast they are. Always impressive to see them. I'm guessing the guy in most of the clips is no longer a monk? I didn't think they actually liked to fight, but learn to in case they have to.

It's like they're impervious to pain. That "iron mouth" move where he carries a table with his teeth without upsetting the tea cups on top and the one where the guy drags a heavy log attached to his testicles are crazy! I've seen a documentary on their training which begins at six years of age. They endure incredible tests like balancing their entire body weight on one or two fingers, having thick wood sticks broken across their Adam's apples and balancing for long periods of time with outstretched arms while holding heavy buckets in each hand and they don't even show signs of strain. Freaky.
My boyfriend used to do this trick where he'd hold a glass bottle by its neck and bring his plan down on the top making the bottom drop off in a perfect circle like it had been cut with a glass cutter.
