Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
Might have posted this before, but here are my top 10 favorite horror movie mothers -- in no particular order and regardless of who they're mothers to in some instances: Donna Trenton (as played by Dee Wallace) in Cujo Diane Freeling (as played by JoBeth Williams) in Poltergeist ('82) and Poltergeist II: The Other Side ('86) Amanda Krueger (as played by Nan Martin) in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors ('87) Chris MacNeil (as played by Ellen Burstyn) in The Exorcist Stevie Wayne (as played by Adrienne Barbeau) in John Carpenter's The Fog Lucy Emerson (as played by Dianne Wiest) in The Lost Boys Rachel Creed (as played by Denise Crosby) in Pet Sematary ('89) Heather Langenkamp (as played by Heather Langenkamp) in Wes Craven's New Nightmare Dr. Dakota Block (as played by Marley Shelton) in Planet Terror Morticia Addams (as played by Angelica Houston) in The Addams Family ('91) and Addams Family Values ('93)
As far as grandmothers go, Helga Eveshim (as played by Mai Zetterling) in The Witches ('90) is one of them too.
I prefer Book Wendy over Movie Wendy, in regards to The Shining.
An honorable mention to Emily Crenshaw (as played by Mary Ellen Trainor) in The Monster Squad.
Another great one, you could argue, would be Mary Shelley as played by Elsa Lanchester in Bride of Frankenstein. She's an author as well as a character in that movie, and all authors are parents to their characters, are they not?

I called my mom and then went to work. Because a lowly CVS stockboy's job is never done.
