Wilford Brimley has passed away at the age of 85 after a two month kidney ailment.
Probably best known to horror fans as Blair in John Carpenter's classic from 1982, The Thing, Brimley had a very impressive and huge body of work.
Starting with 1969’s True Grit, he went on to star in films including The China Syndrome, Death Valley, 10 to Midnight, The Natural, Cocoon, Cocoon: The Return, The Firm, Hard Target, Progeny, and most recently, 2017’s I Believe. I remember marking out when he appeared on Seinfeld as the Postmaster General in the 1997 episode "The Junk Mail".
He's survived by his wife and three children. Sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his family, RIP.

Not to make light of it, but honestly I thought he had died a long time ago. Still, a tragic loss of a great actor. RIP.

Well, he had been out of the scene for a while, understandable.

He did the 35th anniversary panel for The Thing in 2017. He was a salty motherfather there.
