Pro wrestling legend Road Warrior Animal, real name Joseph Laurinaitis, died at the age of 60, his family and WWE confirmed on Wednesday morning. The cause of death was not immediately known or released.
"At this time, we would like to confirm the passing of Joseph Laurinaitis aka Road Warrior Animal at the age of 60. The family is planning to release a statement later today. At this time we ask for you to keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers. "
"WWE is saddened to learn that Joe Laurinaitis, known to WWE fans as Road Warrior Animal, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Laurinaitis' family, friends and fans."
Laurinaitis was part of the iconic tag team, The Road Warriors aka The Legion of Doom, along with his partner Michael Hagstrand as Road Warrior Hawk. Hagstrand passed away in 2003 at the age of 46.
Often considered the best tag team ever, the Road Warriors held multiple titles including the AWA, NWA and WWF tag team championships.
Laurinitis is survived by his wife and three children as well as two brothers. And we lose another legend. RIP.

Not news I wanted to wake up to. I was more of a Demolition guy but damn The Road Warriors were beasts. Easily one of the best teams ever.
RIP Animal.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't expecting to hear about him passing at 60. Always seemed like he took great care of himself and avoided the drugs and all of that. I read somewhere earlier that they believe, at least for now, that it was natural causes. We'll see. One of his sons used to play for the Redskins a few years back.
Definitely gone too soon.

This sucked to wake up to. RIP, gone way too soon. Hope he's up there giving Doomsday Devices to the angels with his best friend Hawk.
