Couldn't believe this hadn't been posted about yet, so here it is. Another classic story by Stephen King that was made into a movie, and a pretty good one. Pretty much all of the sequels stunk. Some had their moments, but for the most part, blecch. But the original from1984 is a good one. Good story and creepy kids killing off all the towns adults. Good stuff.

This film had a long-standing influence on my sister and I. I was 10 or 11 when i first saw it, out mother was out so we watched it together in the dark. Back then i thought it was very creepy but it had what I liked at that time plenty of blood. One of the most brutal when people's throat's were slit, especially in the coffee shop at the beginning.
Although i look back at it now with slight rose-tinted spectacles and it's cheesiness, it still remains one of my faves. It also un-nerves me as a 10/11 years old when Issac did that creepy stare through the window of the cafe when it all kicked off. Malachi also just looked like a right evil ****** - the hair the oversized pouty lips. I remember jumping when in the old house and Burt and Vicky backed into each other, when Amos "sat up" in the road.
I still need to get the anniversary edition with the commentary!

I take it you like this movie just a little? It is a good one. One of the few King books made into a movie that is as good as the book. I have to watch it again myself.

As my new sig says - Happy 30 years of corn! WHilst watching it again last night I found a cool little blog, with the filming locations, sadly Hansen's Cafe is no more after a fire in 2008. It also has a very nice interview with the guy who played Joseph! Although the role was small (Remember he gets killed pretty early on in the corn field), it seems he doesn't mind talking at length about it in this interview.

I watched this a few months ago and I honestly didn't care for it. Found it way too silly and cheesy.

Yeah, it does have it's share of cheese. But, the original is from 1984. I think it was remade by Syfy and tried to get a little more edgy but I didn't care for the characters. In the book the husband and wife are fighting and don't seem to like each other very much. The original didn't capture that and the remake took it too far. I do like the original, but after watching it this year, yeah some of it is kinda silly. Still a great movie to me.

Not a particular favorite of mine. In fact, it's kind of a letdown. One of the bad Stephen King movies, in my opinon. I don't care about the couple, and the very ending sucks. I'm not talking about the stuff with the cornfield, Malachai and Isaac, and the murders themselves, mostly, I'm talking about how the guy just hits a kid with his car door and that's when the end credits start. Very bad. Awful really. Someday there'll be a good movie from this concept. Someday.

I'm not a fan of this one either. I found it to be extremely boring.
