Loved Andre back in the day before the WWF turned him heel against Hogan. He wasn't around often so when he arrived in the area it was a real treat to watch him wrestle. Never could get into him as a heel.

Never could get into him as a heel. Yeah! I saw him wrestle in person way back in 1983 in a six man tag team cage match with Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant and a lesser known partner against One Man Gang, Sir Oliver Humperdink, and another lesser known partner. He even made the One Man Gang look tiny next to him. I don't remember anything about the One Man Gang's lesser known partner, other than that's who was pinned, and it was Andre pinning him, or course.

I grew up in the 70's, so I started watching the WWF when I was a kid. When Andre or Mil Mascaras would come in for a while, it was really exciting. In the early 80's, Hulk Hogan came in as a heel and had a good feud with Andre. Started on TV with Hogan bloodying Andre with a "loaded" elbow pad. Great stuff!

I have seen another early years match between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant with Hulk Hogan being the bad guy and Andre being the good guy, but never this one before. That one is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I wish Hogan brought back the loaded elbow pad for his heel run in WCW. Would have been a nice throwback and change up how he worked a little. The leg drop was his face finisher. He should have never used it again.

That would have been a nice touch to go along with heel persona. I was tired of seeing the leg drop finisher anyway.

Hogan was not a small guy but his leg drop lost steam when guys like Yokozuna hit better looking ones mid match.
