I saw this cut a long time ago! It's not bad, but very long, and it gets repetitive a lot! If it weren't so repetitive so much, I'd have liked it a lot better. I don't dislike this cut, but I like the regular and shorter cut a lot better.

Sometimes the theatrical cut is the way to go. Adding more scenes and colorizing older movies sometimes takes away from the original rather than enhancing it. But, I saw this and figured for anyone who hadn't seen it, it could be cool.

Is this the version that combines the Argento cut with the directors cut?
I say directors cut but Romero actually preferred the theatrical version. I've only seen that and the directors cut and agree with Romero.
Dawns probably the ultimate zombie film in my opinion. I know it's probably sacrilege but I've always preferred it over night, probably because I saw Dawn first.
However I feel the directors cut kind of messes with pacing. There's the scene where Peter shoots a zombie near the start that then cuts to Peter finding the port guard or someone like that and the way it jumps I've always found really good editing. There's a lot of extra stuff in the directors cut so we don't get that sudden jump cut.
I think the theatrical version is just right. I'm never really bored when watching but also kind of don't want it to end if that makes sense. But yeah I'd rather watch this version.
I wonder if the original ending will ever turn up. There's been a few differing comments, some people suggesting it was never filmed and some saying it was

I think if there was footage it would have surfaced by now, especially with the multiple special editions released for the film. I'd rather it stay a myth at this point, makes for an interesting topic of conversation that will be lost if it did exist and come to light.

According to this, Tom Savini was one of those arguing the original ending was shot. It says Romero at first denied it but in an interview for a 1985 documentary called Document of the Dead admits that it was at least partially shot. I doubt, as NDX says, we will ever know fully, it just adds one of those what if possibilities to it, and we humans seem to love these things. lwlies.com/articles/dawn-of-the-dead-alternate-ending/

Not sure what I think of the original ending - kind of realistic but at the same time it's interesting to think those two could still be out there
