The plot of the film revolves primarily around a vacationing family who lose their way on a road trip. After a long drive in the Texas desert, the family is trapped at a lodge maintained by a polygamous pagan cult, and they attempt to escape as the cult's members decide what to do with them. The film is infamous for its technical deficiencies, especially its significant editing flaws; its soundtrack and visuals not being synchronized; tedious pacing; abysmal acting; and several scenes that are inexplicable or disconnected from the overall plot.
Need I say more? I'm sure a few of you have already seen or heard of this film from Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is where I originally saw it.
Without the wisecracks of the robots, this film is awful on every conceivable level. If you're a true bad movie fan, you have to sit through this mess at least once.

I've only been able to tolerate 2 viewings, haven't seen it in 3 years...
Might have to change that with the new TV.

Heard of it but never seen it. If it's really that bad, then I have to see it. Lol, it sounds like we're talking about really good movies. "Gotta see it", "It's a must see", lol. If anyone just popped in here and thought we were talking good movies and watched one, they'd be scratching their heads thinking we didn't know WTF we were talking about. But we do, oh yes...we do.

I truly believe Tomas is the sole reason people have seen this movie.

Checking IMDB for trivia, as I do during most films, I came across this jem of information. In 2011, Benjamin Solovey found the work print, made from the original 16mm reversal stock. It was in pristine condition. Solovey is restoring the material for a potential Blu-ray release in the near future. Just imagine, this disasterpiece in HD...

If ever there was a film that didn't need an upgrade, this would be it. Not that it would stop me from buying it, but it still doesn't deserve a blu-ray.

I have a feeling I'll be triple dipping for this film, if not quadruple dipping if a BD comes out. I want that MST3K version, if that Rifftracks gets released I'd get that, and I want to find that Elvira one again we saw at Kim's. It's not on Amazon, which surprises me. Should have bought it when I had the chance.
Movie's almost done and I'm still here, so... good, I guess.

I think the Master would approve of a blu-ray.

There is no way to enjoy this movie. But I love it. I love hating it.

We've watched this debacle of a film far more times than anyone should. Not just that, but spread it to others!
