'84 for me all the way. I know we discussed this before on the forum. The re-make just felt to me like it was unnecessary.. Didn't add anything except the 10 minute spot about Freddy's background.
The first one was much scarier and more enjoyable, to me.

I'm probably the only one who'll pick it, but I went with the remake.
I watched the original a few months ago and well...it didn't hold up. I found it incredibly boring and quite frankly, at the end of the film Freddy looks like a total wuss. I mean, he's falling for traps like it's Home Alone! I will say however that the effects are still good and Robert Englund is great in the role. His makeup job is far superior.
On the other hand, to me the remake was good. It paid homage to the original but did some thing different, such as actually give Freddy more of a back story. He was a lot more menacing and creepy (the scene where the girl is in the dress and it looks like he's molesting her for example). The makeup wasn't as good and there were a bit too many jump scares, but overall I liked this film way more than I thought I would.

"Falling for traps like its Home Alone", lol.
Well, I still prefer the original. But either way, its not one of my favorite movies.

Freddy killed people he killed little kids... Who doesn't want to kill a kid every now and then(joking) but there is gonna be a whole generation of kids that will believe Freddy is a damn child molester that is not cool man you could ruin someone's life by making up lies like that.

Lol. I think Freddy won't have to worry about anyone slandering his name. He'd just wait til they went to sleep and take care of anyone messing with him.

Okay I was on a site trying to research a popular 80's film that had a sequel with a lead female that died LOL (20question game making me insane)... But how is this related to this... Well I come across a site that says top 15 80's horror movies well I scroll thru and see my guy Freddy and it has a small description in there it states that "midway thru the film we learn Freddy is a child molester" and this asshole is talking about the 84 version correct me if I'm wrong but tell me when they say Fred kruger is a child molester?

I don't remember them mentioning that until like...Freddy's Dead honestly. I know they mentioned he murdered children, but never anything about molesting them.

I always thought he was a child killer not a molester, which is just as bad lol but still. I went for the original, its a horror classic, and I think it still holds its own today.

The original is the best and I still whip it out on cold dark nights to scare a female friend or two... The movie that is... But some things like the face peeling is so out dated and the long ARM Freddy scratching on the wall is goofy but I love it. And grew up on it

I love the original as well and I watched it(I think) during the 50 Days of Horror. All that was said was he was a child murderer as mentioned above. Pretty sure they said that he was a molester outright in the re-make, but it's been a while since I've seen it.

I can lend it to you if you want Scott, I might be picking it up on blu-ray soon if I can find it cheap, so you might be able to keep it if you like it.
