I love my blu ray. The prices on blu ray DVDs are dropping pretty quickly too. Only like 5 or 6 bucks more than the regular DVDs. Alot of them come with blu ray, the regular DVD, and digital copy too.

You don't have a PS3 Thom? Just a straight up Blu ray player? Just curious, feeling it out. I need one, just thought it might be a better deal to get one that plays games too.

The crispness of blu-ray scares the bejeezus out of me. Too much detail. TOO MUCH!

No PS3 for me. Actually thought about that instead of just the blu ray player. But went with the blu ray only.

Does it upconvert non blu ray discs, or will they look as crappy as they normally do?

Hmmm. Target has a no frills one for $70. I may jump on that.

Some films it sucks with, and some are brilliant, the up-scanning. NotLD looked so... so... CRISP!
I'm afraid to watch the TMNT trilogy, I took a few looks and I could see the cells of the turtle skins. They're wearing fake skin and I could still see the cells making them up! Horrifying!

Some things are just not meant to be seen in so much detail. Most of the new movies look good on it, some old ones not so much. It's lovely for animated features.

Oh, I need to upgrade that. And I must have Lion King on BR as well. First Blu-Ray film I saw was X-Men First Class. Disorienting as all hell. Cap and Thor played out much better.

First bluray was spiderman 3 came with one of the ps3's... the dark knight is when I got hooked and said everything must be bluray now. I would say jump on the ps3 Dave with the bluray player, 3d capability, video system, slide shows, music player, video game console, WiFi capable, web browser, free psn, and much much more but the ps3 is 5 years old its near time to take this old dog out in the field and put it down rumors of a ps4 are surfacing and that isn't good for ps3 unless you are looking to get one cheap

I'm all over cheap, so that's great news to me. I'd only buy a handful of games for it anyway, be mostly for DVDs. Some games, but yeah, mostly DVDs.
