The original by far! The original is one of the best slasher films from the 1980s out there! The remake is not nearly as bad as I expected, but I am still glad I did not spend any money to see that one. Robert Englund is the perfect cast for Freddy Krueger, and it just does not work for somebody else playing that role, in not just my opinion. This is the thing - Freddy Krueger might be scary, but he's also got some weird charm to. It's years since I've seen either - Have a feeling I may have watched the remake on a plane, or at least when away, and just remember it feeling bland. Freddy in the original and the film itself, has character, charm etc. It's weird to think we don't really have any of these horror characters these days - like Michael, Freddy and Jason

Yeah, I just found the remake very lacking in any type of charisma or feeling. As said, Freddy from the original had a personality, in the remake he was just portrayed so dark. Like they tried to completely remove all of the one liners and quips and attitude Freddy had and it just fell flat for me.

Come to think of it I suppose this is how I generally feel about torture porn. Like some of those types of horror try to be as gruesome as they can but they miss the charm a lot of older horror had. It's years since I've seen the original texas chainsaw massacre and think I only ever saw it once, but I remember being surprised how a lot of it is left to the imagination
