I do like the odd gangster/mafia film. Goodfellas is just great!
I do prefer Goodfellas to The Godfather. Probably because Goodfellas is more about stuff you are more likely to see happening on your own streets than the opposite with The Godfather - which is more about the Sicilian way of life, which tends to be undercover more.
My favourite characters have to be DeNiro's and Pesci's. They just pull off their roles with ease.

Goodfellas is my number one all time favorite mob/mafia movie. So many great scenes. And, I agree. Pesci and DeNiro are the highlights of the film, especially the first half.
Great movie. Only one close to it for me is Casino, and that's largely due to Pesci and DeNiro's performances as well.

This is the best film, in my opinion, in the genre. Has been since I was 10. I never get tired of seeing this film. I regret not owning this on dvd because my VHS is getting worn out.

Yeah, its an epic film that never dates. I love the scene where Pesci and co mash Billy Batts face in, which later turns out to be the opening scene of the film.

It's a great story told in a great fashion. Some movies like this and Casino just stick with me.
Probably a reason why I'm such a vulgar SOB, too.

I love this movie too. It's really well made. One of Scorsese's best. Great editing. Great narrative. I love when the camera follows Henry and his wife, maybe girlfriend at the time, through the kitchen all the way to their table.
One of the best bio picks of all time. Up there with Malcolm X.
I love how Joe Pesci's character's mother was played by Scorsese's own mother. I want to say his father played the inmate told not to put too much garlic or onions into the pasta sauce.
