Sorry, I never replied in the thread, but I did thank Tomas in a PM...I think... If not, thanks man!! Yes, I saw it and yes, I loved it!! Kurt Russel was great as always, and so was the rest of the movie. Another classic I'm glad I own now.

I still need to upgrade this one. Gotta get it on BD. Because, well, you now know why, Dave.

Indeed. The BD player I get is going to get a workout fast. I hope I can afford one that's up to the challenge.

I got one for $75 nearly 2 years ago now. They aren't all that expensive, really.

Definitely nowhere near as bad as they used to be.

But then I have to buy all the movies...unless I upgrade to a BD burner...

There are lots of multi-movie packs for around $10, and often you can find decent sales in stores or online. It's honestly not that bad, especially considering that a few years ago, the brand new $600 PS3 was the cheapest blu-ray player you could buy.

And most BDs cost about what DVDs used to cost 5 - 10 years ago when they were first coming out. And the prices drop all the time, plus sales (like the Criterion Collection sale going on at Barnes & Noble right now). So in the end, it's worth it. Trust me, coming from someone who doesn't swoon over HD even I like seeing some films in the highest of high def. Made me buy Terminator 2 for a third time in my lifetime.

A lot of special effects heavy films look fantastic on there. It's almost like seeing it for the first time. Not everything is worth upgrading anyway, so keep those DVD's handy.

It's also perfect for CGI animated films. Hand animated not so much, I think, but films like Wreck-It Ralph look their best in HD.
