Anyone read these when you were younger? I remember getting these from the library as a kid and reading them front to back as many times as I could before they had to be back. Alvin Schwartz put his spin on the well known stories, and some good, creepy artwork by Stephen Gammell that fit every story perfectly. I wouldn't mind having copies of these now. I wish I had remembered these when my kids were younger, they would have loved them as much as I did.

They don't use that art anymore. The new prints look nothing like that. After I found that out, I pray I still have these 3 books somewhere in my apartment. If not, I'm going to be so sad.

That sucks. I had no idea the art was changed. Why would they have done that? Those books give me nightmares when I was younger. I loved it. They scared me too. Even the stories I read dozens of times would get me when I read them again. It was great.

They probably thought the art was too traumatizing to children so they changed it. I remember always going for those scary story books when the school had a book fair.

Oh yeah, the book fair!! We also had a sort of Christmas shop that would come around...I can smell pine and cinnamon just thinking about it. Man it was awesome being a kid, lol.

Man, I really really really hope I still have these. If not, I gotta try and find them online because I do NOT want the new ones.

I found them online last night from a guy who says he tracked down every picture and paired it with every story. I don't doubt him, his feedback is good, but my connection was shaky with the storm so I figured I'd wait.

I HAVE THEM! I just found them! And a fourth book called Scary Stories For Sleepovers! Huzzah! I knew I kept them! And now I'm gonna keep them on my comic shelf!
They're beaten to hell but, hell, I got them. And for having them over 20 years, they could look much worse.

Oh hell yeah. I missed those books. Probably kept them because of the art, and I'm glad I did.

Smart man. I may still have mine somewhere, but I highly doubt it. Most likely donated them when I moved from Virginia.

I'm tempted to buy the reprints just for the sake of having them with the different art. And you know these books are old when they're $3.95 each.

I wish books were still that cheap.
