Microsoft has announced Dead Rising 3. It stars a new hero named Nick Ramos and will be exclusive to Xbox One this holiday season. The game is being developed by Capcom Vancouver, and will be published by Microsoft. linkWell, guess I'm never going to play this game.

Oh well. I guess they really wanted less sales?

At this point in the console wars, why would any game developer limit themselves and be exclusive to one system? I understand Sony makes games and Microsoft does and of course they'd be exclusive to their respective systems, but Capcom made a killing in the 90's with Sony and the Play Station with the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series. Why turn your back on Sony now, especially when they're picking up a lot of Xbox fans that are jumping ship due to how f'ing stupid the Xbox One announcement was? Limiting yourself to one console just seems dumb when there are so many fans on both sides. What happened to games coming out on all platforms and making money off of everyone, that seems like a pretty smart approach.

From what I understand when they did release the dead rising 2 on ps3 they made a good profit from it. They may pull the same thing all over again, where they re-release the game a little later for the playstation but initially it is an xbox exclusive.
Also some companies dislike working with other companies so they simply refuse to release games on the respective company's console. They could have issues working with the specific console's hardware as well but I don't see this as a problem for this specific game or the companies involved.
I know I will never buy a Microsoft game system especially since they have all kinds of crazy licensing issues (Indie game makers can't self-publish games wtf?!) So even though this really doesn't matter to me for this game, it still seems like a bad move on Capcom's part.

Capcom isn't known for being the smartest game company.
