Scream Factory recently announced that 1982′s The Slumber Party Massacre will be making its way to Blu-ray early next year: "We’re happy to report that we’ve gone back into our “vaults” and will be bringing the original 1982 SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE film to Blu-ray for the first time in early 2014! This will be a brand new HD transfer taken from the original camera negative. We had many requests for this and we’re pleased to be able to bring this into the Scream family. As many of you know, we released this film on DVD back in 2010 along with Parts 2 & 3 as a part of a “Roger Corman’s Cult Classics” collection. For several factors (mostly financial), we can only bring you the original at this time on Blu but if sales are solid, we will certainly consider 2 & 3 for the future." When Trish (Michelle Michaels) decides to invite her high school girls basketball teammates over for a slumber party, she has no idea the night will be ruined by an escaped mental patient with a portable drill in the cult classic The Slumber Party Massacre.

Is this worth getting? Haven't seen it yet, even though Tomas and I have planned to marathon them in the past, other movies have come up first.

Been a long time since I've seen it, but I liked it from what I remember. Cheesy 80's horror at it's best. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to buy the BD copy if I already had it on DVD. But, I'm cheap.
If you don't have it, I think it would be a good pick up, especially if it has the extras most BD movies come with.

I'm gonna stick with my DVD. It has all 3 films, so I don't see the need for this. They're super cheap and cheesy anyway, so I doubt this will look that much better.

Yeah, if you have that set I really wouldn't see the need for this other to to say you have it. I doubt there are enough cool extras to warrant the money.

It's got a three part documentary on the films, that's the only real notable extra, but I'm sure that won't be on this release. It's good enough to just have the whole collection.

Hmm, 80's slasher with: 1. Massacre in the title 2. Lots of half naked chickes 3. Lots of creative deaths 4. 80's cheese 5. Buckets of blood
How is this NOT a win/win...Hurray for the blu-ray release!!

Shockingly, there isn't as much nudity in these films as you would think. There's more than enough cheese to make it worthwhile though.
