Many sites are reporting that Clive Barker will be writing a remake to Hellraiser and that Doug Bradley will be returning to play Pinhead. Barker apparently did post about writing a new movie on his Facebook page...
"HOT FROM HELL! My friends,I have some news which may be of interest to you. A few weeks ago I had a very productive meeting with Bob Weinstein of Dimension Pictures,in the course of which I pitched a remake of the first HELLRAISER film. The idea of my coming back to the original film and telling the story with a fresh intensity-honoring the structure and the designs from the first incarnation but hopefully creating an even darker and richer film-was attractive to Dimension. Today I have officially been invited to write the script based upon that pitch. What can I tell you about it?Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed. So once the papers are signed , I will open a Lemarchand Configuration, dip my quill in its contents and start writing . I promise that there will be nowhere on the Internet where the news of my progress will be more reliable than here ,because the only author of these reports will be Your Infernal Corespondent ,me. My very best wishes to you all,my friends."
However, when asked about this, Doug Bradley had this to say...
"“Hi everyone! Just arrived in Orlando for Spooky Empire, to be greeted by the news via FearNet and Clive Barkers Facebook that he is writing a new Hellraiser script and intends that I should play Pinhead again. This is intriguing news, about which I know absolutely nothing. No one has contacted or spoken to me about returning. So until you hear from me to the contrary, assume that all rumors about me returning as Pinhead are only rumors. Peace & Pain."
So, we'll have to wait and see what's true and what isn't. I'd like to see Bradley as Pinhead one more time, and if Barker writes it, I'm sure he'll be pulling all the strings he can to get Bradley in on it.

If Barker and Bradley return, and the promise of practical effects are true, then count me in. The last Hellraiser film didn't have Bradley, and it was atrociously bad.

Isn't he a bit old, though? In recent photos, he looks it.

Nothing a few hours of makeup can't fix.

That's what I was thinking. With the makeup on he'd probably look OK. This would be the last time though, I would think.

I hope he does come back if this thing does get made. Then again, we've been hearing about this remake for over a year now, so who the hell knows.

Cabin in the Woods was recorded in 2009 and didn't get released until 3 years later, so who knows what can happen.

Very true. If the old band does get back together, then I think this can easily be one of the better remakes out there.

nooooooooo no more remakes of classics which prove to be utter crap and ruin a perfectly good franchise!
ok so the last hellraiser was pretty rubbish but the first 2 (maybe 3 if your a glutten for cenobytes), but we all know remakes rarely pass the grade. For me anyway!

Most remakes are more pointless than bad, not that there aren't a fair amount of rubbish ones out there.
I think this one would be fine since you have the original director, potentially the same main star, and still would use practical effects.

Even the worst Hellraiser films had at least 5 interesting minutes due to Doug Bradley.

1 and 2 are arguably the best, but how can you not like a Cenobyte that shoots CDs out of it's head? I love part 3. Downhill from there, but as Tomas said, Bradley brings it in every one.

I love part 3 also. The scene where Pinhead feeds the priest a piece of himself always wigs me out, I love it!
