"If you’ve been a consumer of all things horror, then there’s a strong chance you’ve probably used FEARnet in one way or another. Whether it was through their website, cable channel, or VOD service FEARnet had extended its reach to all corners of the media spectrum. Now all that might be going away as cable company Comcast has purchased the network from partners Lionsgate and Sony. Comcast announced today that it had acquired 100% ownership of FEARnet this morning. As a result, according to Deadline, Comcast will most likely fold FEARnet’s content into existing networks Chiller and SyFy. As you might know, Chiller and SyFy are both Comcast networks that were acquired when Comcast purchased NBCUniversal back in 2011. Deadline is reporting that 10 of the 25 staff members that work at FEARnet will be merged into the other networks. The other 15 will be losing their jobs. A representative for NBCUniversal told Deadline that the merger and integration of FEARnet into the Comcast family will be taking place over “a yet to be determined period of time." This sucks, not only for the 15 people losing their jobs, but we have Comcast and DO NOT get the Chiller channel. So now, we probably won't get anything other than SyFy and I honestly can't see that getting better after incorporating FEARnet into it. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but this just sounds like we've lost the only decent horror on demand channel we had as Comcast subscribers.

I feel sorry for those 15 people. Hell of a way to start the week.
