My Dad watched it and said it was horrible. I believe him, but I'll probably check it out later in the week to see how bad it is for myself.

I've heard bad and good but my coworker said her favorite scary movie was the 1981 "the howling" so to ask someone to name there favorite scary movie and they don't name some remake that's a good sign.. right?

The original, with James Arnesss, of "GUNSMOKE" fame. It was scarey, wwithout all the blood and gore of thhe current movies. Shadows can be scarey as well as the music. The mind can be a dangerous thing if left unchecked, as well as the immagination.

Probably my favorite horror movie ever. Still waiting to see the newest one just to know firsthand, but I'm very skeptical now after what I've heard that it will even be close to as good as the 1982 movie.

1982 had me because of the effects. The way it was made, amazing work.

Saw the newest one, and even though I liked it a lot, gotta go with the 1982 version just because the effects were all by hand and no CGI. Rick Baker was the man.

Shame no one wants to put the hard, physical work in anymore to make a really good movie. If not for the over the top CGI the new Thing would be in my top 10.

Yeah. It's pretty good Lee. I'd recommend it. Like I said, the CGI is noticeable at times, but at other times it's OK.
Nothing will top the 82 version for me, but it's pretty good.

I still gotta check the newest one out. I know the CGI is going to ruin it for me, but I still wanna see how they connect it with Carpenter's version.

They end up doing a good job with that, but they wait forever. Like I said, when the credits started rolling I was pissed, then I was ahh, ok.

Man, I hope someone gets all pissy over the movie and drops off the BD at the GW/SA. Oh, that would be glorious.

Yeah, and like you said Tony, the credits part really ties it all in. Didn't even connect the two faced creature to the original til you said that.
