Just wondering if there are any MMORPG fans here? (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) I have to admit, I'm kind of addicted. I started off years ago playing a 2D game called NexusTK, simply because the guy I was dating at the time played it and I got hooked from there. I don't still play it, but I do still have my account there, it's just not active all the time. Right now though, I play SWTOR (ironically again because of my bf who started out playing it and wanting me to join him), a.k.a. Star Wars: The Old Republic, which takes place many many years before the movies' timelines. I like the storylines and seeing how the specific decisions you make in the game affects the outcome. Plus, it's a fun cure for boredom.

Played some WOW for a while, before that the online Sherwood one. I'm really cheap, so if it isn't free I probably won't play it. Unless it was NFL based, that might get me to at least try it.

My problem is I really suck at them. I have no idea what's going on.

Ah, the first one I played was very similar to WoW but just... 2D graphics. lol. It's been around since 1998 though, so lots of the players hold on to it for sentimental reasons, even though the graphics haven't been updated. Star Wars has a free option, you can play all levels too, but honestly you get so much more out of the experience with the paid options. I have the 6 month subscription, so I only have to pay twice a year and I think it's decently priced. I like the community though on the MMORPGs I've played, I've met some amazing people from it, who I can say are better friends than "real" ones.

Maybe I'll give one a shot, a good free one. Maybe the Star Wars one you mentioned. We're really trying to cut back on spending money, which is why we got rid of cable. The WOW one I played was free and hosted on the Excalibur server, almost like a pirated copy I guess, but it was the full game and all the quests and everything. Sherwood is OK, but once you complete the quests, there isn't much to do but run around and fight other players, or just keep pillaging the dungeon. Get's boring pretty quick for me.

Trust me, I understand that. If you do end up trying it out, let me know what server you pick, I have this problem with creating lots of characters on different servers... so I may be able to help you out in some way!

They're even more addictive if you're in a guild/clan.
That said, I haven't played any of the new ones that have come out recently, too many to choose from and don't have the time or money to fiddle around with them.

I haven't been able to really find a good one on SWTOR, a couple characters are in ones that I got invited to join randomly, and I mainly just accepted because you get a bonus % with experience if you're in a guild, but one thing I wish they would implement, is being able to look at the guild beforehand, instead of having to accept and then decide if you wanna stay or not. That older mmorpg I used to play had lots of great clans though. I met a lot of awesome people through the clans and am still in contact with them today (via Facebook mainly) even though I no longer actively play the game.
