So, if what I read is correct, I don't have the channel, but to see Mulan on the Disney+ channel you have to not only have a subscription to the channel for $6.99 a month but also pay $29.99 to see the movie?
WTF is that about?? Doesn't Disney have enough money? WTF is so special about this movie that it warrants paying $30 to see? Just to see it early? It doesn't even look good.
I don't get it, but then again I don't get a lot of stuff happening today. To each their own I guess, just seems like a huge ripoff to me.

I think they expect people with families to have Disney+ already, and justifying the price as multiple people watching it on the one account. Considering that kids tickets in states like mine are still 12 bucks or more it's a... value. Not a good one, but a value.
But it's also ish. From the changes to the politics behind it, it's ish from top to bottom and not worth a purchase.
I think Disney should have thrown it on the net for 30 bucks, and any D+ user still has to pay a price for it, but half. That would have been best but Disney had to make money back from this somehow because it would have bombed in theaters even without Covid obliterating the industry. They definitely made more money on this travesty this way.

Meh, Netflix is fine with whole families and friends watching for one price, so are Hulu, Philo and any other streaming service people pay for. I read that the movie will be streaming on Disney+ in December for just the regular subscription price, so I guess you're right, they're trying to recoup their money because the movie sucks, at least according to the reviews I've read. Fak that place. If I was ever considering a subscription to them I wouldn't be now.

I get that. The idea of paying for a service on top of a service is bunk to me too. Especially with so many other ways to aquire said movies. It just asks for people to abandon you faster.
Then again, I think streaming services have gone too far and now makes cable seem like a good idea.
This, this is why I never migrated away from physical media.

It'll be free in December, so I'll just wait until then.

That's nother bit of bullshit right there. It used to be 9 to 12 months before a movie would hit cable from the theaters, with a physical release inbetween. Now it's just hey, losers, pay $30 now or WAIT 3 WHOLE MONTHS! This whole this was a shitshow.

I do agree that some streaming services charge way too much. We go through Verizon Fios for our internet and the smallest TV package they offer is a little over $50 a month. Streaming wise, we have Hulu at $5.99 a month and Philo at $16 a month. And really, with all the free channels we have, we could cancel Philo and not really miss it.
But, then you have Fubu, and Sling and others that have packages that are right up there with what cable charges. The reason we ditched cable TV was to save money and stop having all those channels we never watched, so paying $80 plus for a huge streaming package makes no sense for us.

And you have services for horror, anime, Criterion releases, HBO, Starz, CBS, NBC, etc.
It's disgusting how far it's gone.

It was nice when there were only a handful of services with so many choices, it made financial sense to use them and ditch cable. Now every damn network and company want to make their own service, so stuff that you used to get from one left and moved to another, making it so confusing and complicated.
I'll always have physical media no matter what, but it would be nice if we didn't have to have 100 different streaming options that we have to pay for.

I do agree that there's too many options. I have Netflix, just the basic account because it is cheap, and have Shudder although don't always watch it. Problem is due to rights different services offer different content in different countries. Most of the streaming services are also against VPNs but when you don't get the same as other people it can be annoying. It's a shame as I've often wondered if it wasn't for the rights, would we be able to get just one service with most content. Then again people would complain about lack of competition.

Disney+ for me is a big no, even thought they have the 30+ seasons of The Simpsons and in all sort of languages (I'm a huge fan of that show) I would pay for that. There's always Youtube or DvDs (even if stops to season 20ish) that you can watch them. Even thought there would be other stuff that interests me I wouldn't loose my money for that.
