I go to thrift stores mostly to look for books and vintage stationery. Sometimes I find other cool things but nothing as cool as numbers 5 and 15 on this list.

Some really cool stuff there! I wish we could find stuff like that in the Goodwill near us, wish we had a Salvation Army store.
One thing my wife got me that is amazing, IMO, is a replica of the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. It's not as big as the one in the movie, which works because it's on a table. But otherwise, it's a prefect replica right down to the tassels on the shade. It looks like brand new and it only cost her $5. Probably one of the best (IMO) gifts she's ever given me. Sometimes gems pop up if you look for them.

I tend to only look for movies and books and have found a few OOP gems over the years (Dead Alive on DVD recently one of them). I've also found a few board and card games, too.
I did find a WWE Bruno Sammartino figure with Tomas years back. He got it for his dad.
I occasionally look at the art at this one store in case I find something cool at a reasonable price. Nothing yet.

I did some charity shops as I said I would and I was very disappointed. The largest of them has lots of DVDs but at this visit they were mostly popular mainstream titles. They have a ton of DVDs in the back too waiting to be put out. I wonder if it is dependent on who does the sorting? Maybe they go for ones they recognise or think are popular. Books were a disappointment too. There were a few of those generic Christmas albums in the CD section, probably recent presents offloaded ha. Sometimes they have nice tops in the clothes, but another fail. I think it's the first time I was in that charity shop and picked up nothing.

Our Goodwill store has a huge selection of DVDs but everything is just thrown on a shelf with CDs mixed in and without going through every single thing they have, it's tough to find stuff. I wish it was better organized. The clothes and all are organized pretty well, but the DVD section is a mess.

The DVDs and CDs weren't in any order, but they did seem to have made an effort to group most of the kids DVDs together.

We get a lot of books from ours and usually everyone we get has some kind of colored sticker on it signifying a percentage off of the marked price for certain days. My wife will home with a bag full of books for as low as $300 sometimes. And a lot of these books look like they've never been read, they seem brand new. We also like to look through their board games. We got Trivial Pursuit there cheap(gotta check the package though, sometimes the games are missing pieces.) and Boggle and some other ones.
I actually applied to work there, but never heard back. I'm kind of OCD about stuff, so I'd have been all over that DVD section.

I often wonder about the jigsaws. I had a relative who got one from a library that loaned them, only to discover a piece was missing. He had done almost 1500 pieces when he realised.

Yeah, that's another item I'm wary of buying there. Most of the boxes aren't even taped shut at our store, Some are. Could very easily be short one or many pieces, and it would be impossible to tell without doing the puzzle and finding out.
At least with games, I pretty much know what should be there.

There are some pretty decent board games at thrift stores if you get lucky enough to find them. I found Last Night on Earth and it looks pretty complete, as well as new sealed games like Munchkin: Axe Cop, Joking Hazard, Organ Attack! and Dixit.
