Curse Of The Crimson Alter is a British feature length horror film from the 1960s with Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, and Barbara Steel in one movie! It starts with a man signing a book at a big weird ritual ceremony, then takes us to another man receiving a weird mail from the area his missing brother was last seen in. He then goes to that area to investigate, to find there is a small secluded area that holds anniversary ceremonies for a witchcraft trial that was held there, convicting and burning a lady who was accused of witchcraft. The mansion he ends up staying in throws a lot of wild and unique parties, hosted by the mansion owner's daughter. He then finds a secret passage leading to a secret room where rituals are held. There are also people in the area, believing the lady who was convicted and burned was actually innocent, and wanting to avenge her death. There are a good amount of twists and turns in this film, and a surprise at the end on somebody seeming like either the killer or involved in them to be completely innocent. This is a weird film, but very intense and interesting. It is also very original and different with a good plot, along with very good drama, dialogue, and well developed characters. Those into the older British horror films with the known actors mentioned above should not be disappointed with this one.

I watched this as part of 31 Days of Halloween. It does have a good cast, Michael Gough is in it too. People will recognise him in many horror films playing often memorable supporting characters. it was filmed a year before Boris Karloff sadly passed away.
