Anyone have any thoughts on how this will go in the future? To me it seems to be running out of steam. Too many crossovers in an attempt to force you to watch other stuff in the franchise often means you don't know what on Earth is going on. Some barrel scraping with new characters too. Mind you DC seem in a worse place.

Gotta agree. Phase 4 was very weak, and the first film of phase 5 was a bad start. Honestly not looking forward to anything much this phase aside from Guardians and Blade.

If Blade even comes out.
I'm a huge comic reader, especially Marvel. The early seers of films were much better, but have been slowly declining for various reasons since probably the end of Phase 2.
Phase 4, though, is the worst of the worst when it comes to the MCU.
My main issue is how most of these films have good elements in them that could lead to good films.
The family dynamics in Black Widow was amazingly put together with great actors all to end on a floating airship NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND FOR DECADES although we've technically had heroes of some sort since the 70s.
Shang Chi have us a near epic King Fu classic that ended with them fighting the proverbial blue light. Why can't we keep it more grounded and just give us a slick fight with a moral ending?
I loved Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I hated how Wanda just walked away after WandaVision. Her being the villain was perfect, and there was some proper horror elements to grow on for future stories. But in the end, it could have been darker, but they played it safe again.
Eternals was a disappointment. I liked elements of it, being an oldschool Eternals fan, but it missed the mark. Best thing the movie did was establish the Black Knight and Blade. Maybe Captain Britain can be next and we get an adaption of Cap and the MI-13 post Secret Invasion. I think Eternals could have been a good film if they completely scrapped Kro and the Deviants and focused on just preventing Tiamat from hatching.
Wakanda Forever was a lot of fun in the end. I still miss Boseman of course, but the film had a lot of good elements to it overall, making it a good film. Particularly Namor. That's a story if like to see built on. Shuri is not a good protagonist. Riri was much better than her comic counterpart.
WandaVision was fine up until the ending. I didn't even mind it being Agatha over Mephisto as the antagonist, but let's be honest, Wanda was a horrible villain and should have been at least followed, not just let go.
Loki was good. Bring on season 2.
Same with Moon Knight, even with the changes to his personality being split. Khonshu was well done.
Ms. Marvel was fine. Nothing offensive, but nothing special either. It... exists.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier was too short. Character development was too fast and loose. Needed more time to build things up. Great choice for USAgent. Not looking forward to Thunderbolts not lead by an undercover Zemo.
Hawkeye was comfort food in TV form. So many likeable characters in it.
She-Hulk was a wasted opportunity. That simple.
Haven't seen Ant Man 3 yet. Too much CGI. First 2 at least felt more grounded, even with the whole subatomic stuff.

As for scraping the barrel, I've always been a C and D level character fan for years, so seeing Moon Knight and Man-Thing get something tickles me pink. I can see others not seeing the appeal, but seeing a 99% faithful Man-thing in the Werewolf By Night special makes up for 2 craptastic Ghost Rider movies.
Hell, before his movie Iron Man was a c level character at best. They tried to push him but he always fell behind the likes of Spidey, Cap, the FF and X-Men.
There are some characters they could have used that were screwed over by the TV division, which was separate from the movies studio for a decade before they fixed that. Runaways and Cloak and Dagger. Daredevil being rebooted and the rest of the Defenders written off, but keeping the Punisher. Just a lot of poor choices being made.
Marvel horror from the 70s is rich with great characters. Werewolf By Night, Ghost Rider, Damian Hellstrom the Son of Satan, Brother Voodoo, Man-Thing, etc. Brother Voodoo would be good for a future Dr. Strange flick as they are connected in comics.
The GotG Christmad Special was fun too. These 2 hit the nail on the head when it comes to story balancing with either horror or comedy.
Maevel can turn this around by first taking a step back. Slow the rollout of films and shows.

I was actually impressed with the new Marvel movies that I have seen recently, like "Black Widow," "Shang-Chi," "Eternals," "Spiderman: No Way Home," "Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness," and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage." I have not yet seen "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," but am planning on seeing it soon. I found the first "Black Panther" movie weird but interesting and original. I love the first two Ant-Man movies, and have high hopes for the third one. The only Marvel series I have seen from the more recent years are "Daredevil" and "Defenders," which I found impressive. I love how they brought Kingpin, Elektra, and The Punisher to live action this time. Their portrayal of Kingpin is definitely right with the comic book version of him brought to live action, unlike the other portrayals, but that doesn't always mean I did not like the other portrayals. I definitely got a kick out of the first ever live action portrayal of Kingpin, where he was a failed film maker who decided to be the city's crime lord instead. There is a break in the ending credits of "Venom: Let There Be Carnage," with Venom seeing Spider-Man on TV, saying how he does not like that guy, hinting at an upcoming sequel with Venom and Spider-Man getting into it. Matt Murdock already appeared in "Spiderman: No Way Home," making it more possible they might bring the old comic book story of Spider-Man vs. Venom with Matt Murdock/Daredevil being Venom's lawyer to live action. I actually found "Eternals" amazing, but it definitely is a long one for real. If they make a sequel with Spider-Man squaring off against Venom, I will definitely check that one out. I definitely like the new portrayal of Venom a lot better than the one is Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3."
