Good evening and salutations everyone!
I know we're a little late into the month, 15 days late, and I apologize for that but summer has been kicking my ass thoroughly. Because of that I am way behind on starting Animated August, so to compensate for that I'll be posting a weekend edition for 2023.
If you'd like to participate, the main goal of this marathon is to watch at least one animated film each day of the month, or in this case, each day of the weekend.
This is the first of many movie marathons we participate in each year, originally started by our dear friend Dave with 31 ?Nights of Halloween, and although the forum has slowed down in the last year the marathons will continue.
So please, join us by spending the next 4 1/2 months watching the absolute best (and possibly worst) cinema has to offer!
Post the movies you've watched down below!

I'll give this a try soon. My film viewing has been poor this year, I'm looking forward to watching some obscure stuff with the movie marathons.

1: Sherlock Holmes and the Valley of Fear (1983) Australian cartoon with the voice of Peter O'Toole. 2: Dracula - Sovereign of the Damned (1980). English dub of a Japanese animated film based on the Marvel comic series. I'm curious how closely it follows the comic books. I could imagine it is quite close given the style, it's more like a series of episodes than a flowing film. Anyone know anymore about this? I might try to track down some of the original comics.
Apparently it's famous for a scene of Dracula eating a burger.

Posted a link to it a while ago on the forms here. horrorsonline.proboards.com/thread/8948/dracula-sovereign-damned-1980I can't say how closely it resembles Tomb of Dracula, but I've read half that original series and it is one of the best horror comics to come out at the time. In the 70s, Marvel was known for its horror comics with Man-Thing, Tomb of Dracula, Frankenstein 's Monster, The Zombie, Ghost Rider (my personal favorite thanks to the 1990s revival), Son of Satan and many others. Marvel's never really captured that element of fantasy and horror properly again sadly, getting close with the Midnight Sons imprint back in the early to mid 90s but never really finding the same success. Dracula is a prominent figure in Marvel Comics again these days (not using the Gene Colan design seen in the anime unfortunately), having conflicts with The Avengers, Blade and the X-Men. I'm personally a big fan of the 1990s Midnight Sons runs, taking a lot of characters that were introduced in books like Tomb of Dracula and Ghost Rider (and even Spiderman with Morbius), mixing them with Doctor Strange and making them prominent in the mystic and horror side of Marvel. Unfortunately the only books that lasted more than 16 to 31 issues was the two long standing books that started before the imprint Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange. Everything else came and went like a fart in the wind. This site has a good amount of comics available online to read. Just make sure you have a really good adblocker for it. readcomiconline.li/Comic/Tomb-of-Dracula-1972readcomiconline.li/Comic/The-Tomb-of-Draculareadcomiconline.li/Comic/Tomb-of-Dracula-1991readcomiconline.li/Comic/Dracula-Livesreadcomiconline.li/Comic/Giant-Size-Dracula

Thanks, I'll take a look. I've liked the 70s Marvel comics that I've seen. I enjoyed the Doctor Strange ones.
