"Magic" is about a magician's young assistant trying his first solo act, but bombing miserably, then given a ventriloquest doll that really improves his act, turning him into a big hit. His agent then gets him a spot on NBC networks, but it requires a mental test he doesn't want to take, and he runs away to cabin rental lot owned by his past high school crush who he has not seen in years and her husband. It turns she is there with her husband away on a business trip. He rents the cabin, has dinner with her, and shares parts of his acts with her, and she really enjoys them a lot. It also turns their marriage is very rocky, they start discussing the past, and with her husband away, things start getting intimate with them. The husband then comes back a lot earlier than expected, and the agent finds him, and the violence is then about to begin. It then appears as if the young guy turns out to be a similar case to Norman Bates, along with a ventriloquest doll instead of a dead mother, but the dummy eventually comes to life on its own, giving us a little "Psycho Meets Dead Silence" sort of combination. There are also a lot of twists, turns, and eye opening scenes throughout this film, making it keep interest all the way through. This should definitely appeal to those into "Dead Silence," the "Child's Play" series, the "Puppet Master" series, the "Demonic Toys" series, "Ragdoll," "Blood Dolls," and the like.
