Oh yeah!! The third one is coming. Says it will be released in 2012. Details: Filming is expected to begin March 2012 BJ McDonnell had this to say about taking over as director: “I’ve been with the Hatchet team from the very beginning and am honored and thrilled that Adam has handed me the reins on this third movie. I grew up watching horror films and like Adam Green, I’m a true genre fan at heart. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this to step up and make my directorial debut with something I love and know inside and out. Working together with Adam, we plan to make a kick ass movie!” This marks director BJ McDonnell's feature film debut, after working as camera operator for not only the first two films, but also big-budgeted mainstream efforts such as Battle Los Angeles, A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and Rob Zombie's Halloween. Adam Green will not be returning to direct, and will be replaced by someone who has "been part of the Hatchet family the whole way, and I will tease just by saying that he was there for everything." However, Green will still remain very close to production and right by the camera and director every step of the way. The previous movie was the first unrated independent horror flick to be exhibited by a major chain (AMC Theatres) in more than 25 years. Of course, it was only in theaters for a few days before being pulled from screens for undisclosed reasons. Writer Adam Green reportedly had the storyline for a third movie already worked out before he even began filming Hatchet 2. RELEASE DATE 2012 www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movie/hatchet-iii

Sweet! Hatchet has been a great series so far and I expect this one to be just as good. It's nice to see a horror film made by true fans who do it the old school way.

I know, usually we cry foul when we hear a sequel is being announced, but this series has made sequels something to look forward to again.

Hey, they're right. They've done something that isn't done anymore. They created a true horror icon in a modern era of horror films.

You're right. Heck, the last movie that even made an attempt at that was Jeepers Creepers.

They made a lasting character that, if they followed up the movie with a third installment, might have solidified him as a new horror icon. Now, he's just a flash in the pan. Shame, lot of potential to bring a real good series to life.

They waited too long, I don't know how many people even really remember the movies now, other than people like us. We'll see, I think the series has it's share of fans, just not sure how many stuck around.

I'm not even such a huge fan of Jeepers Creepers, but I'd definitely check out a part 3. It tried something a bit different, and it worked out pretty well.
Oh well, LONG LIVE VICTOR CROWLEY!
