I was taken aback when I first heard about it. The very idea of that is just crazy. I b!tch about the regular cost of a ticket, and you want me to pay $50 for a "special package?" If you don't want me to go to the theater, just say so! Holy crap.

It get's mixed reviews. I'd never see it in the theater, but the wife wants the DVD so, I'll see it. Here's a review... "World War Z is a popcorn movie that lacks heart and the kind of spark that makes a movie really great but when it comes to zombie films its far from the worst. Classics like Dawn of the Dead hold up over time because they have that spark and message that resonates with fans and although World War Z lacked that special something it was still a reasonable waste of $12.00 at the theater on a hot summer afternoon. The story for the film is solid, the special effects are respectable and the CGI ‘zombie-ants’ are not nearly as bad as the trailer made them out. World War Z comes across as a zombie movie made by people who don’t understand classic zombie movies or appreciate what they mean to us fans. Alternatively perhaps it is time that us die-hard horror fans recognized that the genre we love so much is not just for us anymore. World War Z made $112million this weekend world-wide proving that zombie movies have gone mainstream and that mainstream fans love it. I might want me zombies slower with a deeper richer back story but that hasn’t stopped the film from connecting with a global film audience and making a boat load of money. I think if you like films like 28 Days Later but wanted something more ‘flashy’ then World War Z is the movie for you. If you prefer a more classic or intelligent zombie film or god forbid expect to see Max Brook’s book unfold on the big screen you might be disappointed." link

I'm upset this is doing well. Looks like we're still gonna get blitzed by dozens of crappy zombie flicks. Damn.

Brad Pitt. It was always gonna do well the opening week. I'm sad people are enjoying it.

This movie has made $366 million so far. I've never read the book, but apparently this is only the same in title. "It is obvious to me if you loved the audio books then you are likely not going to be a huge fan of the World War Z movie. That said for those who have not read the book it seems to be finding its audience. I think that the biggest problem with World War Z is that people do not seem to understand that Max Brooks literally had ZERO input into the film. The movie shares the name but unlike most book adaptations is and never claimed to be anything like the book." linkI'm not even going to rent this. I don't like Pitt and it looks like a play on any other zombie movie. It won't mean much, but they won't get my money.

For all the money this movie has made, it seems to have dropped off of any type of advertising campaign. Nothing for weeks. I don't think this did as well as reported, I think it did not as well as expected. Advertising dropped off to nothing, at least in my area. Anything still in your area NDX or gorepolice?

Not a peep after that initial weekend. That's just fine by me.

I don't think I saw anything after the week it came out. Nothing. I forgot about this film until a few days ago, honestly.

I did too. Why'd you have to go and remind me this existed? Ugh.

I tried watching this with my girlfriend today, but neither of us could pay attention to it. It was so damn boring that we started playing with her pets instead.

It hit On Demand quick. I wasn't planning to see it anyway, but when I saw it on Comcast that fast I figured it must suck. I'll pass on it.
