Sweet, lol. Straight from The Pits of Hell comes the remake of this awful 1973 movie. No posters or trailer yet as it's just getting going, but Tom Savini is directing, giving me hope that this will be better than the first. Here's some info on the movie... Filming is expected to begin sometime in 2012. Tom Savini was quoted saying: "I want to make something unique and interesting, and I also want to take zombies to a new level. The best zombies of late have been what Greg Nicotero has created for THE WALKING DEAD. They’re fabulous…the best I’ve seen. But the zombies in CHILDREN are not your on-the-street they-just-died-and-now-they-are-zombies kind of living dead. They have already been dead for a while, sometimes a great while. So these are not just zombies, they are cadavers—walking cadavers—and that is what I want to show, what I want to make you afraid of. There’s only so much you can do to the face, hands, chests and clothing of zombies to make them scary, and that’s what Greg has done so magnificently—and that has always been the handicap of doing a zombie movie. With the new version of CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, we want to make zombies scary again." Fangoria Entertainment produces under their new Gravesend Film Enterprises banner. Producer Steven Mackler had this to say about the project: "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things was originally a relatively straightforward zombie horror film that we're contemporizing through the storyline. We’ve added an interesting twist that will appeal to a new audience while keeping many of the same elements as the original." When Bob Clark was still involved, filming was estimated to begin in early 2006, mostly in Vancouver. The story of the remake was originally going to follow "a group of filmmakers who head out to shoot at an old mansion on an island with a bizarre past." Back when Bob Clark was still involved this project it was being described as an "outragious" horror comedy. "Think Monty Python with zombies!" This project was in active delopment back in 2005, with original writer/director Bob Clark set to return. However, in 2007 Bob was hit head-on by a drunk driver and killed instantly, leaving many of his projects in a limbo or development hell state. A remake of the 1973 Bob Clark film with the same name. www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movie/children-shouldnt-play-dead-things

Whatever we get can't be worse than the original right? RIGHT?! Five words. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. That said, sounds interesting. Never seen the original, and have no urge to, but I love Savini's work.

Same here. Just having him directing would make me think it's better than the first, but I've been tricked before.

It's Savini, so we'll be watching it no matter what.

Im a fan of the original,....with all its cheese. Even though Savini may Direct, it all depends on other factors as to whether it will work or not. I hope they dont make a glammer n glitz version. Thats what we dont need.

I agree. I don't see that with Savini, but never know. This could be a pretty good film. Could be.

I totally respect Savini for his FX, but i wasnt keen on his Directional efforts in night of the living dead (90). Hold out for more with this one, but i wont be rushing out to buy it.

I really liked his version of NotLD.
That being said, I definitely don't see Savini as a glitz and glamor kinda guy, so that much I'm not worried about.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the original, as bad as it is. The ending to it is really, really good. I love the score to it too. Really sad what happened to Bob Clark. I don't think this project exists any more because of that. Idk
