Remember these? If you said no, you'd be in the majority. A blink and you missed it title if there ever was one. In March of 2001 WCW held a tournament to crown the first WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions. On March 18 at WCW Greed, Kid Romeo and Elix Skipper defeated The Filthy Animals, Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr., to become the first champions. They only held the title until March 26 when they lost the belts to Kidman and Mysterio Jr. on Monday Nitro: Night of Champions. And, that was it. Vince McMahon acquired WCW later that month and the title was abandoned. No big name belt makers here, it's widely thought that the belts were made by the WCW prop department. I don't hate the overall design of the belts, I think they fit the Cruiserweight division. I just think had someone who actually knew how to make belts done them, they would have looked much better.

I really thought they were around longer than that. I thought it was a stupid idea for a title anyway, so no loss there.

Yeah, I know WCW had a pretty decent cruiserweight roster, but even so you'd end up with the same matches over again relatively quickly. Almost like a women's tag title sounds good on paper but wouldn't really work.

They really look rushed. Did they design them the night before the champs were officially crowned? I could completely believe that.

It was definitely a rush job from what I've read. It was almost like the cruiserweight tag division was thought up on the fly, which I can totally believe too.
