A series of gruesome snuff/gore films from Japan. For some reason, I decided to marathon these last night. Not the greatest idea in the world. Anyway, here they are: Devil's Experiment - The first installment of this notorious horror series presents a woman being kidnapped by a gang of black-clad men who torture her for several days before finally killing her.
Flower of Flesh and Blood -A woman walking home late at night is attacked by an unknown assailant who knocks her out with chloroform. When she regains consciousness, she finds herself tied to a bed in a blood- spattered dungeon, at the mercy of a white-faced man in a samurai helmet. He then proceeds to slowly dismember and disembowel her as the camera records it all. He Never Dies - A man sick of his life attempts to commit suicide to no avail. Mermaid in a Manhole - An artist finds and rescues a mermaid in a sewer. He takes her home with him and she develops sores all over her body that begin to pustulate and bleed. He uses what oozes from her sores to paint her portrait. Android of Notre Dame - Revolves around a scientist who tries to find a cure for his sister's grave illness. The scientist needs a "guinea pig" to perform experiments on. A stranger approaches the scientist, offering of a body for the experiments, which the scientist pays for. When the experiments do not go well, the scientist becomes enraged and hacks the body to pieces. The stranger approaches the scientist again and supplies another body so the experiments can continue. Devil Doctor Woman - A mad doctor displays a selection of her more gruesome case studies.

Definitely gory. Japan puts out some crazy stuff, may have to check these out. Any good story wise, or is it who cares about the story, look at this gore?

This sounds hilarious. I don't know why I love this idea so much. I actually want to watch this one.

It's actually the complete opposite of hilarious. I honestly found it to be the most disgusting one in the series.
Dave - These are out of print and have been for a while. Even used, the set will run you about $100. Only Mermaid in a Manhole, He Never Dies, and Android of Notre Dame really have any story to them. Devil's Experiment and Flower of Flesh and Blood are just torture, and Devil Doctor Woman is a series of hilarious things happening to people.

Pretty sure they are. I asked my buddy to download Flower of Flesh and Blood for me. He tried to watch it and turned it off after 5 minutes.

The most disgusting? Really? Wow. Says a lot coming from you.
Devil Doctor Woman sounds fun? Maybe?
Almost want to watch these... almost. Very little almost.

Alright, time to give each of these a little review:
Devil's Experiment - Even at only 42 minutes long, this one is tedious to sit through. 3 guys beat up a woman. That's all there is to it. The thing that ruins it besides that is the woman's reaction seems more annoyed than anything, at least for the parts where she's physically abused. They punch, kick and even rip out one of her fingernails, and all she lets out is a tiny little squeak. She has a more severe reaction to getting spun around repeatedly in a chair! Ridiculous. Decent make-up and some good effects though.
Flower of Flesh and Blood - Not terrible, not great. Some really good gore effects and the ending is quite chilling, but the sound effects seem a little silly. It's just a guy cutting up a woman and saying weird things in between. Not much to be said about it.
He Never Dies - This one is gory but has a sick sense of humor about it. The only part I didn't like was when the guy was throwing his innards at his coworker in slow motion. Would've been better if they left it normal speed. The ending to this one is freaking hilarious.
Mermaid in a Manhole - Shockingly, I found this one to be the most disturbing and disgusting. Plenty of blood, pus, vomit and bugs. The ending is quite depressing too.
Android of Notre Dame - Decent enough story about a man who does everything in his power to save his sick sister. Some of the stuff doesn't make sense, but overall it's not a bad film.
Devil Doctor Woman - My second least favorite in the series. It's a comedy more than anything else, but the problem is pretty much every case sketch goes on for too long, thus ruining the joke.
