I think he's taking a smart approach to it. It's kind of like who cares anymore when a new zombie movie comes out, there's so many of them. I definitely thought the first two 28 Days/Weeks movies kind of set themselves apart from the traditional zombie movies, but I could see him having reservations about doing a third right now. Guess we'll have to wait and see how he feels about it down the road.

Good on Boyle for waiting. I think this film would resonate better if zombies weren't so overexposed right now. It's a deluge of undead out there right now, and 28 Months Later, while it won't get lost, it will get overlooked for other flicks out there.
We've talked about it, I'm all zombied out. I want a break, so when I do come across a new zombie movie I WANT to see it. I NEED to see it. I HAVE to see it. And NOT go "well, ish, here we go again." And I love me my zombie flicks. They're such a great genre. But it's been over saturated as of late, and we need a break.
I think in a few years time, people will then look more for a 29 Months Later than they would now.

Yeah. If you eliminated all the recent zombie movies that were crap, films like this would probably still feel somewhat relevant and fresh. Instead we've been bulldozed into zombie hell. When the guy doing the movie is saying it's too much, you know it's been driven into the ground.

I think people do them because honestly, zombie films are probably one of the easiest things to do. Hell, how many zombie films have we seen recently with sub-par makeup? Plenty. Since right now they're more popular than ever, everyone is trying to make their own zombie cult hit or just make a quick buck.
28 Days Later was awesome and fresh, and 28 Weeks Later was an even better followup to it. I would like to have it end in a trilogy, but releasing it now might get it some unwanted flack due to it coming out when we're up to our ears in zombie crap. Damn shame really.

Yeah, those were able to put a pretty fresh spin on zombie movies, I liked them both too. I think a third one will probably happen, he knows people want it and will see it. I think he's just going to wait on it a bit. I hope so anyway.

The main problem is even before the overuse of zombies, 95% of zombie films in general suck! People either pace the films terribly or just make the film about gore without presenting any form of story to it. That was the problem then, and it still persists to this day.

29 Days/Weeks Later was fresh. It married good stories with good actors and good graphics. They were total package films. I've watched them multiple times. I liked seeing the new aspect of zombies, it worked out perfectly. But with all the ish out there, no matter what happens it will get lost. And that's a shame.

40% are still good odds though.
