As some of you know, I shelled out the first $600 for the entire Wizard video re-release VHS big boxes. Seems as though there is a bit of controversy swirling around whether the video boxes are authentically 80's or just remakes. Personally I do not care. I get to have Wizard big boxes brand new in their packaging, while being signed by Charles Band. Now I ordered the set during the third installment of the first set, so I received all the movies at the same time. The movies I received were: Return of the Zombies Trauma Oasis of the Zombies Demoniac A Virgin Among the Living Dead Fear Breeders Headless Eyes I Spit On Your Grave Blood Castle Mandinga Tormentor My wife filmed me during my un-boxing (with a bit of help from my 3 year old future horror fan daughter) and I wanted to post it to show what $600 of VHS looks like. I just paid the second installment and expect: Zombie Monster Hunter Space Vampires The Screaming Dead for the month of May. I will post the unboxing of those as well (hopefully a bit better made this time). Here is the link to the complete list.

SWEET AS HELL DUDE! I wish I had the money to get those, because those big boxes are freaking gorgeous man. Some of those movie are God awful, but I don't care because just having all of those is a real treat.
Just to say, you look a lot younger than I thought you would.

Yeah I am a "young" 33. And yes, it was a win for everyone!! Should have been for that crazy price that I could'nt really afford, but had to have. Also in the email that I got regarding the second shipment, I got an email that says - "To our appreciation for your support, you will also receive a free killer gift at the conclusion of the 36 releases!" That got me wondering, but it will probably be a tee or something, what would WANT from them is their big box release of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but we know THAT isn't going to happen...lol

With the money you're spending on these, I'd ask them for it. I would think it's the least they could do to say thanks.

Yeah, I hear you. I wouldn't open them either. The uncut version isn't available as a torrent or something, just to see it?

I understand completely. Well, I certainly wouldn't open the one you got to see it, but you never know. It may turn up on E-bay or something one day for a reasonable price. You actually have me wanting to see the uncut version now.

Knowing me, I'd open them anyway. I know I would never sell them. I'd certainly be extra careful with them though.

I tease him about how I'm going to open them to watch them if we can't find them anywhere and/or they are too expensive to buy a secondary copy. The price is a little bit much, but once you decide you can't turn back. We actually rented Mandinga on Amazon (which is one I really wanted to see.) It wasn't the best visual copy. It's sad that we rent them to watch them and not open to buy them. I agree that the signature (which is more expensive than just the box copy) looks like it might cling to the wrapper and wear off, but I get an itch to watch to open some of them sometimes. The little one can play with bubble wrap all day, and that was the REAL cool delivery for her. She lined them up in the kitchen and danced around them. "DBA" had fun with the bubble wrap too, so don't think he didn't get to join in. Next video I will try to not have the little one going crazy and I won't do it in front of the window I can't stand because of the light. We're proud to have the movies, and now he really loves big boxes ... but the price is the killer. When I showed him the site - I knew it was expensive, although I think they make the collection of movies price a little confusing also. I spent too much time in the horror genre ... it's rare that you'll see me reading a book that isn't horror. The movies did come in without dings, which I appreciated, but I was hoping SO MUCH that the special item in this shipment wasn't leprechaun and it's not even signed or anything too special about it that I know about. I was hoping they'd add another movie that wasn't on the list in big box as part of the gift (it would be great to get a movie voucher to choose a movie that you wanted that wasn't on the list.) I'm just waiting on the night where we can't find a particular movie or it's the same price as what we got it for that he'll finally give in and open one. At the same time, I think they are pretty safe being wrapped up as for right now - so I'm not really putting up a fight ... although I did mention about opening one tonight (which was just teasing him at this point.) I still somehow find a better thrill finding a really good copy of a horror vhs at the flea markets and stores for cheaper than you can get online. We will definitely get to help the little one in movie education when she gets older and is into the "scary stuff". I'll try to make sure me and the little one don't make so much background noise during the next video. I wish they would have added a few more of the other movies for sale for the price though still...

Well, on that list there are at least 4 movies you can get on DVD, and probably a few more on Netflix.
I would have loved to order those big boxes myself as I am a huge fan, but that price is just WAY too ridiculous, especially since I'm currently out of work. Hell, even if I was working, there's no way in the world I would pay that price. I'll just live vicariously through the 2 of you.
