So, we watched the Lisa and the Devil version since it was supposed to be the unedited/uncut edition (although I've recently seen a couple places say the other was that version.) I don't remember it really being all that bad, although it is a movie you can kinda enjoy some of the slightly off parts. I'm quite interested if anyone has a good analysis of the movie (especially towards the end) of how they dissected the movie along with the ending. I still keep trying to come up with a perfect story line that ends up completing the ending, but I'd like to know how close it is to everyone else's. I couldn't find this thread in the search at all, so that's why I made a new one. If there was one that I missed ... I'm sorry and just direct me to it.

Pretty certain there isn't a thread for this one. My memory isn't the best, but if there was a thread on something, I normally remember if we have one or not.
Can't say I've ever seen this film before, though I have heard of it. Would you recommomend it?

I don't think this has ever been brought up either. Just from what I've read on Google, I'd kind of like to see the uncut version just to see it. Apparently Lisa and the Devil was cut for TV while The House of Exorcism has more gore, sex and violence. linkNetflix has it, so once I get through some that I've been wanting to see for a while, I'll definitely check it out.

I liked it, although it was very strange and you have to either be with the program or try to figure it out. I'm still trying to figure out certain parts. Yeah, if you read on different sites you will see a differing opinion about which version was uncut and what wasn't. The first movie links I went to (I will look in the movie guide book too to see if maybe that was the one that I compared the two and found it out through...) said that Lisa and the Devil was the uncut, but then when I was looking at other movie sites they said it was the opposite. There was actually gore violence and sex in Lisa and the Devil and I don't see exactly how they could have shown parts of it on the TV unless it was the movie channels...although I hate to talk about things I notice in the movies when someone hasn't seen it until afterwards. I will have to check out house of exorcism to compare it. I think we're going to get the combo on dvd for collection (they have a dual dvd I don't remember if it's regular dvd or blu-ray but I assume right now dvd.) I probably should have looked this stuff up before I posted, but getting the movie guide out in a few minutes and will type what it says about both movies in it on here. I would say it's worth watching, but I feel kinda dumb for being a little lost on the full story of the movie, so I've been trying to figure out what they meant it to be instead of what I keep coming up with in theory. lol I actually was able to watch it completely through without being bored or falling asleep if that helps with my rating. They removed a LOT of the older movies from netflix this month and still are changing up the movies next change is the 20th.

I was hoping Netflix would have the dual DVD, they do with other horror movies sometimes, but no luck with this one. I'll definitely check it out, and if the one I see is lacking, I'll give the other one a shot. It'll probably be so long between them that I won't remember anything about the first one, lol, but I'll watch the other one to see.

It was actually on netflix (both of them.) It was really funny, because I didn't know they were the same movie. DBA put on house of exorcism and I put on Lisa and the Devil and I couldn't imagine why they had the same cover. They took off a lot of the horror classics on May 1st and they're taking off some more on May 20th. It ended up taking half our queue, so I'm hoping they replace them with more. Lisa and the Devil (aka The house of Exorcism; La Casa Dell'Exorcismo; The Devil and the Dead; The Devil in the House of Exorcism; El Diablo se Lleva it los Muertos; II Diavolo a i Morti; Lisa e if Diavolo) 1975 (R). A shortened version of the director's original 1972 release, re-edited and with additional footage added by producer Alfred Leone) This was from the VideoHound's Golden Movie retreiver 1999 which leaves me a little more confused since I don't know if we watched a 1972 release or a 1975 release to begin with that was on netflix, and I forgot what year both of the movies were (although I thought they were either the same or a year apart.) Now I'm even more confused because it's a shortened version that was re-edited with additional footage added which leaves me a little confused at this point.

Oh yeah, I know Netflix said they were losing a bunch of titles. I don't know why any of them were older horror flicks unless we're the smallest percentage, view wise, and they feel like they don't need to cater to us anymore. If that's the case, I'll be pissed.

IMBD says on Lisa and the Devil: [note: this synopsis is only for Mario Bava's true and original 'Lisa and the Devil', not the re-shot, re-edited version 'House of Exorcism'] Surprisingly there was no luck in getting a distributor for the film, even after successful screenings at film festivals. Ultimately in a desperate attempt to get the film into theaters it was heavily re-edited with newly shot footage involving a priest and a possessed Lisa. It was sold under the new title "House of Exorcism" in an attempt to cash in on the success of The Exorcist (1973). Bava's original film, "Lisa and the Devil", wouldn't be seen for nearly a decade. It wasn't until two years after Bava's death that "Lisa and the Devil" was finally released in it's full-length original version. Ironically its premier was an airing on American television in 1983. Here's information about the other alternate versions: www.imdb.com/title/tt0068863/alternateversions?ref_=tttrv_sa_4

I was super upset. I had went on a hunt for all the older movies and rare ones that are expensive or rare to find ... and we had enough to last us for quite awhile and now our queue is almost bare because there was no way with 2 weeks notice we were going to get through them all unless we did some kind of marathon which we aren't able to do! I was frustrated, but I thought maybe they'd add them back or they were just switching out for a better variety. I didn't know it was because they were losing titles or not catering to that genre!! Now I'm a little frustrated (I convinced myself they were rotating movies...) Check your queue movies for May 20th which is the next loss.

I've been pissed at Netflix ever since they pulled that Qwikster BS, then said there would be no change or rate increase, and then increased the rate double. Only now one was for DVD and one for streaming. I used to get both for the same price. About had it with them, especially if they're axing the older horror flicks. I'll be fine without them if it comes to it.

They lost alot of people when they did that. I remember that time. DBA stayed with the streaming since the dvd's in the mail (which was great for movies you can't get on streaming but can be a pain if you're taking your time watching or waiting.) I liked how blockbuster started doing rentals like red box, but they need more dispensers around, but for some reason no one thinks of blockbuster as much I've noticed lately.

I really only liked Blockbuster for used dvds. Especially when they were going out of business. Think I got 50 movies from them.

Didn't Netflix lose close to 800 movies or so a few weeks ago? From what I understand most of it was junk, but I'm sure a few good ones got lost too. I think one of the movies companies wanted to start their own service, which I think is stupid, but what do I know right?

That sounds interesting. I haven't even tried to look up to see about any of that. I used to love the sells at blockbuster ... they have them on every corner almost it seems in HI and I'm pretty sure they can't have gone out of business there because Oahu at least NEEDS them. But that would be interesting to know gore, because I just found another expiration date on another movie being June 1st. So far, it's only been one. It's not one that I care if I lose or not, but I can tell you they shuffled out barney's but that's why I figured they were just rotating (which I hope is the case.)
