"When attorney Julie Hastings (Frances McDormand) uncovers corrupt city real estate dealings, evil thugs attack her scientist boyfriend, Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson). Left for dead after his lab is detonated, he miraculously survives when the ensuing blast hurls him into the nearby harbor. Treated as a John Doe at a city hospital, he is unknowingly submitted to radical therapy which numbs his nerves to feeling–but which heightens his strength and his emotions. Once conscious, Peyton escapes from the hospital and builds a ramshackle lab in an abandoned industrial plant. Horribly burned and scarred by the lab explosion, he uses synthetic skin to impersonate his would-be murderers and seek retribution for their evil deeds. Peyton also tries to reunite with Julie, who believes him to be dead. While the film has an average script, it is overcome by the flashy cinematography of Bill Pope, the bombastic score by Danny Elfman, and the well-choreographed direction of Sam Raimi. The director confidently walks the line between suspense, action, comedy, and romance as he examines a bitter, victimized antihero who risks becoming as monstrous on the inside as he appears on the outside." No release date yet, but the art looks great.

Bad ass cover. I'll probably pass on this one though since I have the trilogy on DVD.

I wish this was the trilogy. Shame I won't be buying any dvds anytime soon.

Don't know. I don't think I've ever seen any of them. I used to play the game, and I remember thinking this game is bad ass, I should rent the movie, but I don't think I ever did. Guess I should give it a watch.

The first is easily the best one, but the other 2 are pretty decent flicks. The first has a young Liam Neeson as the hero, and Larry Drake was fantastic as the evil Durant.
The following 2 had Arnold Vosloo as Darkman, and he did a pretty damn good job. Larry Drake reprises his role in the second, and Jeff Fahey was the villain in the third.
Some of the effects are still really damn good, while others haven't aged as well. Still a good series overall, and one I honestly wouldn't mind getting remade. Hell, since Neeson has been doing more action lately, he could even reprise the role! Think of how great that would be.

I love the first Darkman. I haven't seen the other ones though. Larry Drake is great as a villain.
I love the scene with Neeson and McDormand where they're at the fair. "Take the f$@#%&! elephant!"
Would have been nice if Bruce Campbell played Neeson's character in the sequels.
I love Sam Raimi as a director and miss his old style of filmmaking. Drag Me to Hell was a welcome back to that. Although I did love his first two Spider-Man movies.
Apparently he is making a new horror movie. So . . .
If Darkman were remade who would you want to portray the title character and who would you want to direct?
I'd say maybe Bradley Cooper or James McAvoy to play Darkman and Matthew Vaughn to direct.
