Just got this from Netflix, gonna try to watch it tonight after work. Supposed to be pretty good.
"Considered to be Fulci's masterpiece, "The Beyond" is a hallucinatory nightmare of surreal imagery and unspeakable violence that extends from 1920s New Orleans to the very depths of hell itself -- accessed through the cellar of an old hotel."

Man, watching this now and the gore is pretty good...the story is kind of shaky though. A girl inherits a motel that just happens to have one of the seven doors to hell in the cellar? Ok. But the acting. I know it's an Italian film and in some spots it looks like it's dubbed and in others it looks like they're speaking the words, but the acting is pretty rough. I guess you don't watch a Fulci move for the acting talent, not this one anyway. Pretty gory so far, don't know if I'd want to own it or not though.

This is one of those ones that varies in how good it is depending on the person. I've heard lots of people say it's awesome, but just as many say it's overrated crap as well. One thing I think everyone agrees on is that the acting isn't very good.

That one has one of the scariest endings I have seen. It is also one of Fulci's best in my opinion.

It was almost 8 years ago when I started this thread and I've seen The Beyond many times again since then. I've grown to really like it, though to be honest the acting is still kinda rough, lol. But overall, a scary story and lots of gore, what's not to like? I've come to think of it as one of his best too. I'm no expert on Fulci for sure, but of his movies I've seen, this one is pretty great.
