I saw this on the the other day followed by the new Flowers in the Attic with Heather Graham and wanted to watch both of them, then my meds kicked in and I was out and missed them both. I've always found the Lizzie Borden story interesting and I like Christina Ricci OK so if I see it on again, I'll watch it. Be cool if I could catch the new FITA with it too, but that might be hoping for too much.

The Lizzie Borden movie was pretty good!
I didn't know much about that old case until the movie...

The original Flowers in the Attic movie is a must see for me whenever it's on for whatever reason. Really like to see the new one and how it's done. Glad you liked them, look forward to seeing them at some point.

I missed this one! Really pissed about it. Totally forgot. I did catch Flowers in the Attic. I liked it. Other people said it sucked and that Heather Graham couldn't act. I think she did a great job. I need to watch the movie. Maybe I'll gather some courage and just watch it. Can't be as bad as the tv movie, right? lol

Important If you guys want to see a legitimately good movie about Lizzie Borden, look nowhere else than The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975). It's as accurate as I know it to be, and an absolutely incredible adaptation that feels like you're being thrown back to 1892. The effort that went into making this movie is just something you don't really see in modern movies, today. The film takes place immediately after the murders occur. Once Lizzie's trial takes place, we see the events of the film played out through flashbacks, which wasn't what I expected when I bought the film, but I thought it was a nice touch. The acting from every single person in the movie was nothing short of great. The build up was wonderful and kept me hooked all the way to the bone-chilling final 15 minutes and a moment that sent a freezing cold chill from the top of my head throughout my entire body. I think as adults we've grown almost numb to the effects of horror movies, but this movie creeped me out in a way that no movie ever has in my adult life. It could be a combination of my fascination with the case, and the fact that it's a true story, but I can't rave enough about this flick. I highly recommend this movie to anyone. You don't necessarily need to do research before viewing the movie, or need to be a historian on the subject, but I would recommend knowing this before going in and watching... On the day of the murders, as the father returned from his morning walk, his key wouldn't open the door. The door was jammed/latched shut, and the maid was having trouble undoing it. She shouted a curse word, and said to the jury that she could hear Lizzie laughing at her from upstairs. This was one small thing that I wondered if they would include in the movie before I watched it. For anyone interested, the movie is actually up on youtube, which is great, but the transfer quality on youtube is fairly poor. Pretty dark and blurry, but still watchable. I'd recommend going to amazon and buying the DVD to get a much better viewing experience, but do as you will. Hope anyone who views this movie on my recommendation will be as blown away as I was. Phenomenal movie.

Good deal. The problem is actually finding anyone who's even seen the flick. I'm itching to hear what other people think, but nearly everybody I know has never even heard of the movie, lol. The case is fascinating, and the movie does it complete justice, in my opinion.
Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Oh, and one really interesting bit of information: The woman who played Lizzie Borden in this movie I'm raving about (Elizabeth Montgomery) is actually the 6th cousin of Lizzie Borden. Though, Elizabeth Montgomery died before knowing this fact. A pretty incredible coincidence.

I have seen the Elizabeth Montgomery movie....a LONG time ago! I think it was a "made for TV" movie. I was just a teenager when I saw it. I was spending the night at a friends house and we watched it. I remember it was really good and scary. It was strange at first to see "Samantha Stevens" of Bewitched portraying Lizzie Borden, but once we started getting into the movie we really liked it. Wouldn't mind watching it again sometime.

But I never bothered clicking through them all and just assumed they were all pretty bad. Glad you found one. Hope you dig the movie.

There's a few made for TV movies from the 70's that were awesome, that I know of. Probably a bunch more, but I was always into the horror. Trilogy of Terror and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark from '75 were freaking awesome.

I really dug Dark Night of the Scarecrow, too. As far as made for TV movies.
