I watched this one with my father for the first time a couples night ago and, um, that was something. Very meticulously paced. Takes its time, for sure.
Dark. Gritty. Brutal.
I definitely favor Bone Tomahawk over this S. Craig Zahler film.
Mel Gibson is gruff enough and plays the part decently enough, but maybe someone else could have played his part better. Someone like Viggo Mortensen or it would have been interesting if someone against type would have played the part. The script is good. Especially when it came to Michael Jai White and Tory Kittles' characters, as well as Jennifer Carpenter's character.
Certainly a fascinating piece of cinema. Patience and a strong stomach help.

Damn good movie, though I did prefer Brawl in Cell Block 99 to this one. Very long but a satisfying watch, though I think 2 or 3 scenes in particular could have been shortened a bit.
